Cant be arsed to read the whole thread, but I have a freind with a Modified 6-speed manual Supra TT, which has been dyno'd at 386bhp. I had a play with him on the way back from Japfest yesterday, he was behind me and I floored it (so I didn't have the standing start advantage) and there was absoultely nothing in it right up to 120ish when we both backed off. He wasn't gaining on me and I wasn't pulling away from him.

My car is a UK MY97 with the following engine mods:

Greddy Profec e-01 boost controller @ 1.45bar
Full 2.5" decat
K&N Induction kit
VF34 Turbo
Hybrid FMIC
Tony Law headers
Blitz 550cc injectors,
Apexi Power FC mapped by Andy F
Walbro fuel pump and reg.

It was only finished on thursday so I don't know what power it's making yet (anyone care to estimate?)
My car is suffering major lag at the moment (not giving decent boost untill 4.5k), but when we were playing it was well on song.

He posts over at UJCC as STT, so go over and ask him if anyone doesn't believe me.

My STi Type R made 301bhp as standard. Since had zorst and panel filter. So again, not a very moded STi pitted against Supra's I'm sure must have had similar mods.

I'm not having a dig at Supras, I like them, it's just that in my experience, my Type R has been faster than the Supras I've raced. Not by much, but enough to edge away.

What sort of mods would be needed to get a Sup upto 450bhp? Like I said, I like them. It's even being considered as a possible next car! Along with many others!

What are the costs involved in owning a Sup? servicing (costs/intervals) expensive to mod? Are they reliable at 450-500bhp?

No alot, usual decat, FCD, zorst, hybrid turbo's and boost controller, fuel control or similar - 450 isn't a lot of money with a supra.

Cheaper to service and longer intervals than the Scoob, (9k or yearly), I averaged about 17.5mpg, 21 ish on motorway runs.
As above, very cheap to mod and get bhp from. Very reliable indeed, most over engineered engine I've come across, even more so than my current RB26 IMHO.

I saw a very nice black Top Secret MKIV TT the other day. It looked fooking awesome! and was running 460bhp.

It's quite strange, I see some Sup's that do nothing for me, yet I would have quite happily chopped off my left srcrote for this black one. I've rarely seen a car with more presence.

Is it just me, or do ALL cars look better in black? My black Type R was parked next to a silver Type R the other day and it looked SO much better.
But what a b4stard to keep clean!
