My mates got a mk3 Supra with a bleed valve and an exhaust only, I had a wrx wagon with full decat, 1.2 bar and blitz cone filter. Down motorway they were dead equal.
Just for your info.
Mind you, he got a litre more.

The red one may well not have been a turbo as it did get beaten very easily! I thought he'd slipped a cog and got reverse at one point and it didn't look like a friendly fingers up gesture!
The figures tell the story. no standard Supra is doing 60 in 4.3 or 100 in sub 12 seconds. As tested, (in the wet) a Type R does.
I like Supras, they look awesome, they go pretty well too! But, they are too heavy to match a Type R's 300bhp at 1235kg's vs a Supra's 326bhp? at ?kg's
The only mods my Type R has is full zorst. At least three of the Supras I raced had some mods, zorst and dump valve (by the sounds of it). Though I'm not saying I beat a heavily moded Supra.
Why do people assume that because of the gearing of the Type R, it runs out of puff? One of the run-ins with a Supra saw me on the wrong side of 150mph (on a private road) he was not closing on me one bit. It was a rolling start from 20ish mph
What is the bhp/ton on Supras?
I can only go from experience, and my experience tells me that my Type R is faster than a Supra. Sorry if this offends, it's just the way it is.

LOL
I think thats all I can say - trying to be abritrary but no - scoobies beat everything as usual
Edit - hang on I've had a few beers so handbag out time.
4.3 in the wet - lol. Where was that test then? I'd like to see that! A supe does 4.5 in manual guise, add RLTC and they can launch almost as quick as 4wd in wet and dry. Autos its even easier, powerbrake and just keep your foot planted, no missing gears etc
Supra's weigh 1500kg or just over 210-217bhp/tonne. Standard with no 4wd drivetrain loses. As I said my old auto (which loses more through the tranny than a manual) was 318bhp and putting 270 of those to the rear wheels - its not all about bhp/tonne. And a few mods and that 326 for the UK easily and cheaply becomes 400bhp and just under 350bhp @ the rear wheels!
Coz I've experienced it first hand, rapid cars up to just into 3 figures. Put both cars doing a 90/100 and boot it and you'll see why the gearing is mentioned.
Scoobies are great cars, why can't some people realise there are other great cars out there too!
Still - quite happy with my Skyline, best of both worlds - bring it on!

Supras Turbo's have a design fault.
Both of the one's I have 'entertained', (Chasing one sharp turn up a hill and leading the other, round a few B roads) have had problems with their traction control, when we pull over for a chat
(I always like to know what im benchmarking against!)
With Cossies its always a dodgy actuator
Mind you, to-be-fair, I have also had a well modded looking scooby who was low on Petrol

I know the answer!!!!!!!!!!
OK how about this.
Everyone choose just three of the following (only):
A. Both cars have differrent strengths and weaknesses.
B. A fiat 500 with a rocket engine will beat a Fiat turbo in the quarter mile.
C. Its the 'Nut Behind the wheel' that is most important.
D. HOL should be 'Grand Whiz' of the universe and rule from the top of a big pyramid and surrounded by beautiful naked women all day.
I know my favourites

Sure, standard Supras are fast, but they aren't *that* fast.
