In New Zealand, I know of many guys that buy a supercharger kit for the SS (similar to CV8) for around 3000 pounds that puts down 350kW (470HP) at the wheels.

Moving off Holdens - does the UK get the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo?

Although only 240kW in stock form, APS in Australia can get 390kW out of this (top speed 307km, 1/4 mile = 10.98s) for fairly low cost as the stock turbo only runs 6psi....http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/falcon/phase_iii.htm

Unfortunately we don't officially get the XR6's here, however we can get the supercharger kits for the Monaros but it's a little more expensive than the ones in NZ but the power levels achieveable are amazing:
