Your not far from the truth there super
Just spent 2 hours yesterday looking at a spec c at http://www.just-sports.org/home.asp
Imported by Pete @ prosport, bought by just-sports, then owned by one of thier reps. Facelifted by pete as it was imported with front wing damage, + new rear bumper to match. So a 52 plate, which looks like an 03
Had a test drive too, no electric windows, no central locking, dccd, ic water spray, usual spec c extras
GOES LIKE STINK!
Only problem is the insurance + £260 till april 05, then around £1100 for the next year with L&V
Bit too much for the wife to swallow that, so gonna look around this morning for a better quote, but I don't think I'll have much luck
chris.

ok, update:
Not buying the car after spending 2 hours this morning trying to get a quote under 1k.
Nearest I got was L&V with 1.1k
Cant at this moment in time justify spending that much on insurance!
So no spec c for me then.
Andy has since told me of a story about how this car was put together. Dont want to go into detail, but suffice to say I'll stear well clear of that particular example.
Also had the idea of trying for the P1 they had in, but to mine and the insurance reps surprise at L&V, the quote was exactly the same as the spec c
I need to be older, or live in a nicer area
So, bought some pimpy mud flaps to cheer me up
Should have em for the run on saturday,
see you all soon,
I'll arrange a meet for next wednesday, as I'm on earlies,
chris.
ps, thanks to ***** for his great knowledge of cars on our test drive tuesday, asking questions of the sales rep I didnt even think of, cheers m8.

Spec-C Vs Pimpy mud flaps = you made the best choice
Are there any jobs where you work, CW? I guess you did not take the wife with you to look at the spec C.

No super, I'm not that daft
I think as soon as she realised it didn't have central locking or electric windows, I would've had no chance.
Looking good for the P1 though
chris.

I`m gonna let Dale share my turn and see if he can be quickest.
He`s a bit competitive....
Races anything with an engine.
He`s currently competing with mini-bikes.(moto-x with diddy wheels)

Just checked this thread for the first time in ages to find talk of spec C's and all sorts. Basically, that Spec C would not have suited you Chris. It doesn't even HAVE a spoiler!

As this is getting closer, i think it would be good for the people that werent there last year, for a brief rundown, of what to expect. times, plan for the day, what to bring, spectators allowed etc.
or is it just me that wasnt there last year
cheers

As you would expect from any SMACS event, it is very informal and friendly (until the stopwatch comes out )
Basically we take it in turns to warm up on the track, which is quite short and technical.
Then everyone has a go at spinning off, with various levels of success/failure, depending upon your viewpoint, while they try and get quicker and quicker.
Lunch is a trip to Maccy'D (not the one in Brugge)
Then some timed runs for those who want to, with some general banter about how cr4p everyone really is at driving. And some photos are taken for posterity and the SMACS web site.
Best to bring some food/drink to keep you going. Some warm clothes are also a good idea as it can be a bit bleak around the track. (ie. no cover)
Also bring, 1 set spare wheels, 1 set spare tyres, trolly jack, set of spanners, engine oil, gearbox oil, diff oil, vegtable oil, can of optimax, 12 can of red bull, a complete early 19th century erthenware tea service, 2 man tent, F1 std timing equipment and a small brown dog called norman.
Helmets are req'd this year, I will be bringing one - who else will?

I forgot to say, mine must be openface. I expect a large should fit but if there is a way to get some idea of sizes then that would be great.
