WR1 residuals...

pslewis?
Did you sleep well, and have you taken your pills this morning?
Now, you seem to have your slippers on the wrong feet!
The Nurse will be along soon the give you a bed bath, and then you can have breakfast.

good old Scoobynet!
Glad to see things are being kept on an adult level!
So much for opinions on WR1 residuals....
As usual it turns into the Muppet Show....

Lighten Up!
Of course this thread is about WR1 residuals, however, some of us do enjoy a little banter in amongst the more sensible matters.
What is your opinion on the residual values then?

Again old man, you have things all wrong.
I'm 35 going to 18, close but not close enough.
Must be the eyes that are going this time because your choice of
car's tells us only one thing. OLD boys cars.
Was wondering if you have to use glue to keep your flat cap on the massive head of yours.
All seeing all knowing pslewis.
Loosing ŁŁŁŁŁ on a car is a lot less than been in a relationship, the last 2 relationships (3years) cost me the price of a WR1, so I could have then have 2 on order, instead I'll stick with number 97 due today.
Thanks but no thanks, I'll still with a scooby.

I also have to say, at times the "banter " does get quite huffy and childish therefore very boring, especially when folk bite, hook line and sinker for pslewis's wind-ups....
My opinions on WR1 residuals are that they will not be as bad as folk think, certainly better than Type UK STi's, but from a purely selfisg standpoint, I hope they plummet, as it means I'll be able to get into one that bit sooner.

Gooner,
I see you've not been here long...
Pete's a legend.....
You only end up getting upset....
Just dont mess....
He drives an MX-5 and likes girly convertables....
Just be glad the WR1 doesnt have gold wheels....
Many have tried and failed to wrile the man that is - as he puts it - the godfather of scoobynet....
He even winds up his MX-5 lot on their website

talizman, i havn't read all the thread, only the bits I was interesred in.
pslewis is well known for his wind ups', I am not wound up and nor shall I be, cos I really do not care about the residual values.
Certainly, if the prices plummet considerably I will be pi**ed off, as would anyone losing money.
There seem to be many thoughts about this WR1, personally I cannot see it losing as much as a WRX for instance, and having only lost Ł6450, and cost of PPP, in 2 years 3 months on mine when I sold it in February, I would be delighted to get a similar % depreciation on the WR1 when I sell it.
Sadly there are very few cars which hold there values, and none I can identify are of any interest to me!
So, the WR1 it is, should be picking it up next week, and if I lose loads of money, I will just have to keep it.
Of course, very few people think about the fact you lose 17.5 % VAT when you buy the car anyway, on the WR1 that is Ł5249.12, NOW I AM GETTING WORRIED! :-)

At the end of the day, grown adults have made the decision to purchase and accept the residual values on a WR1 for the excitement of owning a great motor. People may slag them for doing this but surely, being married is alot more costly? (Financially, Health???)

Pete.... Just read your 'selection of 'cars' ??? is it me or have you listed every hairdressers dream convertible but strangely no mention of the car that is to hairdressing as the pope is to religion.. The mighty 'MX-5' (a real driving experience and at a snip to)

WR1 + Marriage + Kids !
alwong : I disagree, I am married (20 years), have 2 kids (girls 17 & 15) and this is how it goes :
19 January 2004 (Evening) -
1) Look at Subaru website and see WR1 announcement.
2) Call daughters through to study to see WR1 announcement.
3) Daughters call my Wife, who says, 'Oh my word, that is so ugly'
4) Daughters 'Mum, you do not understand, it is wicked'
5) Wife, 'you are not having one of those'
20 January 2004 (Daytime) -
1) I travel to dealer to discuss and place refundable deposit.
2) Return to office, Wife says 'where have you been this morning darling'
3) 'Oh, just went to Quenby's at Baldock'.
4) Wife 'Who are Quenby's'
5) 'They are the Subaru dealer'
6) Wife 'Oh, I suppose you have ordered that ugly car then?'
7) 'Yes, I need to go out now to see a customer, see you later'
8) Wife 'I knew last night you would order that car'
20 January 2004 (Evening) -
1) I arrive home to be greeted by 2 Daughters
2) Dad, 'Mum says you have ordered the car'
3) 'Yes, we will have to wait for a while befoire we get it though'
4) Eldest daughter 'can I have the old one?'
5) 'No!'
6) 'Why?'
7) 'Too young'
8) 'Oh'
9) Wife 'You must think I'm daft, I knew you would buy one, as long as the whole house is redecorated and refurnished I will be happy'
NOW THIS IS A LONG WAY ROUND TELLING YOU THAT MARRIAGE AND KIDS WORKS FOR ME!

I admit gooner you have done extremely well for a man in your position but you missed what was really going on in your wifes mind. You purchasing that car just means she can purchase whatever she like for the next x amount of months while you sit happily in your new WR1 blissfully ignoring what's happening with the rest of the finances.

OH Dear !
I must say, it does look that way, HOWEVER, my Wife is a brilliant bird, I often offer her money to go shopping for clothes etc, and most people don't believe my luck, she won't spend it!
So I have no worries?!, unless she suddenly runs away with a neighbour and takes all I have with her.
BUT BACK TO THE POINT - WR1 residuals
I personnaly believe it will hols on to it's vaue better than most Imprezas, and most Inprezas hold value OK.
At the end of the day, a special edition of what is a cult car, will be reasonable.
The Final point is though - if you are worried about losing money on a car - DO NOT BUY ONE

Couldn't agree more Gooner & if it all goes pear shaped you can always put the misses up on Ebay a money conscious woman like that should easy fetch a tidy sum against any depreciation on the WR1

Don't you worry m8, I intend to. Once I get it that is!
By the time I get mine it will probably be a 58 plate, will that be worth more three months down the line when I come to change the car?
