This stuff makes my blood boil. I had my 01 WRX keyscratched just one week after I bought it. The fact is that there are lots of penniless ******* out there that will take any opportunity to "get one over" on anyone that's obviously better off than they are. And don't think it's always kids either. I once caught this old guy (must have been at least 65) deliberatly tipping rubbish over my car, blatantly in front of me. When I confronted him about it, he threatened to call the Police on ME!
I've had another ****** pop my window, steal my Tax disc, then report me to the Police for having no tax. Luckily, I still had the receipt from the Post Office where I bought it, but I thought that one was original.
After 10 years of driving nice sports cars, I've found the following advice helpful:
1. Always park on an end space if you can. Halves the probability of getting a door dent. Can't argue with the odds.
2. Always park next to another nice car. The owner won't want to risk damage to their doors, regardless of how much they hate you.
3. Never park next to an old banger (or a van), even if it means finding another car park.
4. Avoid proximity alarms. You know, the ones that beep or talk when someone gets close to the car. All they do is wind the ******* up and guarantee you plenty of keyscratches.
5. Avoid alarms that false regularly. Constant false alarms guarantee you keyscratches from your neighbours.
6. Keep a bit of dirt on your car. A clean, obviously cared for car winds the scotes up much more than a dirty one. A bit of dirt is in keeping with the Scoobs "rally bred" image anyway, so no big thing.
Can anyone else think of some more?
