moses don't you think the time has come that you have a break away from ScoobyNet. Stick to MLR and whatever other forums you use. You never post like this on MLR - so I am intrigued to know why you do on SN

I seriously suggest you impliment a self-imposed ban away from here for a while, go and enjoy yourself on MLR which is your main bbs you use anyway. This way, you will be happier and SN users will be too.

Please consider this suggestion seriously!!

People are weird. You'd think they'd listen to somone trying to defend their position but they don't. All it does is reinforce the beliefs they already hold.

It's a well known fact that you giving facts to people with closed minds does'nt achieve anything.

So in my experience you're better off saying nothing than trying to defend yourself. As all the latter will actually actually achieve is to strengthen their viewpoint of you as that of an extremist. Therefore IMHO It's better not to reply to false accusations and windups as.
1. If you are secure in your beliefs, someone telling you they are wrong won't affect you, you'll just accept their right to be wrong.
2. Replying acutally gives them more ammunition to use back at you.
3. Stating facts won't change closed minds.
4. Replying is what adds to your 'bad reputation'. If you are sincere about changing that, then that is the only way on SN that is going to happen.

It's far better to be helpful, polite and forgiving than to try and point out failings in people all the time. To do that(and not come off as an arrogant prat) you need to earn their trust and respect.

I believe that if you stopped trying to justify your opinions, contributed in a positive, polite and humble way people would soon warm to you, and therefore allow you the chance to gently drip feed in what you really want to say in the knowledge that they are actually listening to you.

IMHO to continue to try and be 'defender of the faith' will only mean that peoples eyes and minds will be closed to it, and eventually the disruption that these replies cause will mean that action has to be taken.

dunno if i want to get involved in this or not. my opinion for what is worth is that both sides are as bad as each other. its not about sectarianism or love/hate or political opinions, these are all a front for what i believe is the real motivation on each side......MONEY AND POWER. it always revolves round these two. yes you can have the one or two ppls who truely believe they are fighting for a cause but as i have said to moses before (your bobby sands thread IIRC) these ppl are just pawns that can be bartered away if it will influence the outcome and put one side ahead in the power or money stakes. oh btw fast bloke your stating that moses knows nothing about "our situation" over her in NI just enforces the irony that i feel when you consider that 90% of the "loyalists" over here couldn't tell you the first thing about their heritage, similarly if you ask the catholics about partition and the easter rising they seem very nonplussed. i have concluded the emotive subjects like these are fine and ok for sensible and open debate but for troll purposes they serve no-one.
