how?................
is it best to start with a 2L or 2.5?
And how do you go about getting the cc's, i've read about different cranks etc.
Input need more Input
or put it this way, wot can i build at home, myself, for about 2.5ishk uk pounds!
Plenty overtime at work at the mo, and will be all year!
I'd do the extra to find £100 a week to pump in to my car!
thanks

Been there and done (almost) all the above.
Davids right, the cost is never ending, a little suprised that Adam has done 20K, but he likes shiney new bits!! LOL.
I am lucky in that i work at a tuning shop and can get all bits at cost, and apart from balancing crank/pulley/clutch and flywheel assembly, I have/will be doing absolutle everything myself. Still the amount of money I will have thrown at it by the time it is finished will be horrendous. (worked out I could of actually bought an previously tuned 650bhp R32 GTR for the same money!). But at the end of the day, I know the car and engine and know it's limitations, and am proud of something i have made myself (Jesus H tap dancin' christ!!! I sound like a GEEK sometimes!!)
As for the big capacity versus strength debate, I wouldn't touch that 2.8 with a looooooong stick. Personaly,am not to sure on re-linering (am sure Mark knows his stuff though) So in the end i went for an EJ22T (closed deck) stock stroke and slight oversize bore to accomodate cosworth pistons. If i couldn't have found that block i would probably have gone with an EJ20 (again closed deck) and probably stuck with bore and stroke. I do like the new 2.5 but the open decking puts me off.
