Don't be silly mate

Shope around, try Liv Vic - thats a way too high quote, you'll get it much cheaper...........

DW ...with LV and scoobs you can do any mods you like to the car as long as you dont increase the engine capacity...that means cage, wheels, engine parts the whole lot....I would ring them back and speak to someone else.....It only costs me £900 to insure a new STi which is modded with them

£1450 lol try Norwhich Union or Priviledge then. When I had mine it was under £500 a few years back now with NUnion, when I was 30. If no luck then maybe prices have been hiked up again for mods on GTIs, not sure.

Edited - ugh unless u mean on ya Scoob? It should be under £1000 anyway.

This may sound silly but if you only do small miles a year look at a classic car insurance. The age of the car should mean that it quialifys as a classic or what they call a future classic .....My old TVR used to cost me £350 fully comp, agreed value pay out restricted to 5K miles per year.
Try adrian flux or one of those type of places

prana .......How the hell do you tell if its flexing or not? lol ...... I drive the holy shxt out of it and it feels pretty rock solid, on tight turns with too much speed she understeers and very rarely i can get the rear to move out a bit, but thats more by luck then judgement....I have driven others and they dont hold the road half as well, but that dont mean a well sorted one wouldnt destroy mine.
But as for your question i wouldnt have a clue ....!!!!

Apparently the OMP cages come unfinished and rather rough on quality, Think I will go for an SD one eventually.

DW,

OMP are unfinished, but I have had no prob. with the quality of the cage itself. The mountings can be a little hit or miss, but since you have to weld these it is not such a big issue.

met,

Does the 260 inc. door bars?

I got mine direct from Safety devices ....its the bolted one, bolted and then welded in position. It need a few cuts and holes in ya car to fit it but anyone with half a brain and a tool box can do it .......As I proved

Gutmann, Having replied to your brake pad thread about 10 mins ago I now find that your back from the 'ring. That was fast . What pads did you go for in the end and how did they perform?

Dreamweaver, I think you were asking about insurance. I used to be with Hoddesden Ins Consultants, 350gbp full ncd various mods (200 quid cheaper than pervious cheapest, green something or other). Now with Osbourne, full ncb transfered to my STi3 wagon (they don't seem to like modded imports much!) and they have given me full discount on the pug too (but obviously no ncd though ), so still paying the same for it. Flux were quite good too. Hope this helps.

RRH, out of curiosity how much are you looking for for your 205 mi16, as I'm considering it for mine soon, and who's conversion bits/kit did you use. Pm or email me if you prefere.

madmoog

p.s. Do you think that we need a 205 forum on scoonynet???

Insured it TPFT in the end with Flux for £351

Means I will lose about £2500 if its nicked, but nothing I can do - none of them would do an agreed value policy.

Going to spend the insurance savings on a Cat1 full alarm job - total closure the lot

cheers for the replies though mate....

Gutmann,

The other thing I meant to post last night but forgot (red wine induced amnesia!) was about tyres.

Just had some Goodyear GSD3 F1's fitted on the fronts after the rave reviews of them on scooby's. Very good wet and dry and warm up nicely. When I use the pug and arrive at Milton Keynes (roundabouts and drag racing between) they are nicely warmed starting to feel sticky. Previously had P700Z which were nowhere near as good but did last well! Wear on there seems proportional to fun!! What are you running?

Also Yoko A510 were good, A520 less so and A539 worse in my opinion.

Bring back A008 or Bridgestone RE71

madmoog

p.s. You wouldn't want the standard pads to fade half way through a lap would you............

p.s.s. I ought to add that I now run 195/50 r15

I loved A539's on my old 1.6. I have P6000's at the mo, which are superb in the dry.
