Stick up for yourselves? Jesus don't give me that, as you can see from the last 2 posts we have all had varying experiences at the hands of the police.
Would you like to justify the actions of your workmates in this thread?
Do you condone there behaviour and consider it acceptable?
I have no idea what kind of police officer you are, I hope a reasonable one that remembers why they joined in the first place. Come on mate, you must see that things are getting a tad out of control in society in general and the police are basically not equipped to deal with any of it.

Do you deny that there appears to be a complete lack of respect for the police NOT law. The reasoning behind this may be that we citizens do not always associate one with the other. I certainly do not where I live!

Before I met my current partner she was beaten silly by her maniac ex, 2 witnesses and various bruising didn't make a great deal of difference. The police officers turned up 2 f**kin days later.

Now, what do we do at this point? Do we let it go or hope we are at least seen to be protected by the law. Due to a rather large ****-up it didn't even go to trial. A few months ago the problem was sorted "our way" and justice prevailed.

I appreciate that your position probably isn't one of a standard beat officer so you may not see the whole picture from a 1000ft up.

It also may be prudent to evaluate why the police and there position in society is at such a low. Surely you can see there is a problem, but the trend to generate massive revenues from the motorist is really doing you guys absolutely no favours.

I respect the car you have, I respect the skill you must have to do the job you do but at present I do not respect the actions of your colleagues on the ground.

I am not saying we are all angels on the road but FFS don't treat us all like the criminals.

Wheelie.

Wheelie, just a few points, IMHO.

I'm not a police officer.

I don't feel you have the right to decide who can, and who can't post an opinion on here just as you have. EVEN if it doesn't agree with yours.

I do think that there is a certain lack of respect for Police, but i also think that there is a problem with people's understanding of the law, and what the police are required to do by law. People don't tend to start threads when things go as expected. Although there have been a few when things have gone better than expected.

The particular example you gave involving your partner is almost certainly more complicated than you made out. Witnesses and bruising does make a great deal of difference. I'm sure that's not the whole story, and I don't expect you to tell it either. If you did what you did to rectify the situation in your eyes, then good for you. This thread is really about traffic police anyway.

The generation of revenue through speeding fines and such has nothing to do with the average PC. I don't like it any more than you, but I don't give every PC I encounter attitude because of it.

Apologies mate for inferring incorrectly, I got the distinct impression that you were a helicop.

I do take issue with you however on your second remark though, I don't recall saying who can and cannot post on this thread. I am a Network Analyst, but NOT of this site and as such have no moderated or administrative control.

As is evident, I am new to this site and find it takes up more time that I had originally planned to allocate.

I expect everyone to agree and disagree in every thread and flame wars to start from very little, as is evident here. I tried, and failed to add a little humour to the thread with my remark regarding "They're here ...".
As with many online mediums it is often difficult to express ones feelings adequately through emoticons.

You are correct, the thread had started out as a "discussion" regarding the antics of certain traffic cops. If I have any more appropriate reflections on the subject, I know where to post.

Irrespective of the flames I have enjoyed this afternoons banter even if it did have police officers in it ...... just kidding .. keep the pants on .

Hope to talk to you all later, preferably in a different thread.

Regards
Wheelie

Just to state a fact.....

Everytime Ive been pulled in my car (Subaru), Ive been breaking the law.

As trivial as it is, its still breaking the law, so they are doing their job.

The way they do it is what bugs me, the attitute, the talking down to you, the way they think it a life threatening crime to have an illegally spaced plate. I think even our resident Bizzies will agree, there are some proper 'jobs worths' out there.

If 'Starsky & Hutch', who pulled me (mentioned earlier). Were to see me firing a hand gun out of my drivers window, would they have been so keen to smoke their tires to catch me up. Stupid way to put it I know, but you get my drift.

Why dont I change the plate and have done with it ?

Maybe because Id have nothing to moan about then.

Is there an illness listed were the symptoms are 'An overwhelming urge to wind up the Police ?'

If so Ive got it.

I think your not far off the mark there, Tiggs.

I was being followed by a copper the other day, he pulled into the right turn only lane, I was going straight on, we were parked level. OMG what the ****, he was ignoring me..

I found myself cupping my right hand to my ear and talking to myself, in the hope he would think I was on my mobile, but to no avail..

Or should I say, are you breaking the law if you stop too quick ?

I like to SLAM on before the first blue flash has expired, takes the smug look off the ******* face. And if he rams you he is in deep ****.

Always look in the RVM during this opperation for full view of the eye bulging, white knuckel moment.

Last week I was pulled for a none DVLA conforming front plate, the copper was traffic and driving a Volvo estate. He drove past me in the opposite direction, he nearly broke his kneck looking at the plate as I drove past. Then he did a big 'Starsky & Hutch' in the middle of the road, crime of the century.
He was accelerating hard as I noticed the lights on the front of the bobbing up and down as he changed gear. He was right behind me in a very short space of time and flicked on his blue lights.

BANG.......I slammed on, proper SLAMMED ON.

You should have seen his face.

He got out with his WPC partner, one looking a bit pale, and the other looking purple and rather pi55ed off.

He said "What the hell are you doing ?"

"Going the gym." I said.

It all went down hill after that.
LMAO

I know it's days old now but I've only just read it. Very very funny
