As the forum is still down and we're waiting for your thoughts on the formalisation of the club...

I just thought I'd share this with you.. regardless of the 'proper' formalising of the club... if we get a membership card going.. 'The Bridge' will give each member 10% off a tab which includes food & beer, not just at the meets, but anytime... There are some other useful 'extras' that I can post later (for security more than anything) ... but I had a great chat with the manager this evening after I enjoyed my Mixed Grill..

But this then, should be the start of us checking out ways for the club off the ground proper and to get discounts in other areas. We can then add this as a very good reason to join the WYIOC, fork out the membership fee and start saving... We can then get a proper paid up full bandwidth site.. for starters...

Check out the forum and pass your comments....

Ta

Oooohhhh. Them Pirelli stickers are dead expensive you know.

Just glad you and car are still in one (and a bit) piece(s) mate.

Al, d'you want me to start work on a membership card design? Just think how much I could flog them for on the black market. Sit in a quiet corner at the Bridge on a Friday, selling 'em to all the locals for a fiver a piece

BTW only kidding

Gotta be at least a tenner

sorry guys ...again... Its starting to get a little bit embarrassing now, with the forums being down so much and also very frustratig as I've put in about 50+ hours setting it up, modifying it and backing up the files.

The subscription sounds like a good idea and the thoughts on at what point it should be paid..i.e when you join ,or on the 1st of the 1st are quite valid.

I think, to be as fair as is possible we should charge the amount (to be confirmed) on a yearly basis and anyone that joins within the subscription period should pay pro rata..(annual devided by months left , for the remainder of the year) and also an expiry date on the card, but costs into renewing the card every year will have to be looked into/

also..a point to note.. I'm sure people wont abuse the discounts we may be able to negotiate.. but just incase, I think its worth having a named user on the card so that anyone who joins dosnt "lend it to their mates" or even better "payment by credit/debit card only" so the name on the member card can be veryfied

I'm sure this wont happen but if its an open club then we cant really stop anyone joining without some sort of agreement policy by the existing members.

again..sorry for the downtime of the forums, but my emails to the hosting company are fruitless at the moment.

Phil, valid point about the abuse. It would be quite easy to have a photo style card, similar to new driving licenses. Mind you, with some of us lot I'd need a stronger lens in the digicam

Unhappy Trackday at Rallydrive

I have tried twice now to register as a member on WYIOC and I never seem to get a reply. The first was as 'SPEN555' and it now says it already exists but I never got an e-mail confirming it was now live. I have just tried again this morning with 'Damian Spencer'.

I need to get on there as I want to put my name down for the trackday at Rallydrive.

Damian.

Andy, I did give credit in the forum...

As for cards, yep, get going my friend... can you do plastic or would it be laminated card? We would definitely need some form of unique number or photo.. having spoken to Neil at The Bridge, abuse was a question we covered.

Firstly. In order to get the discount, you would need to show a membership card… to stop someone knocking one up on a PC and passing off as a member he’s going to setup ‘Tabs’ on his till. Each member will get a ‘tab’ and all you quote is the tab number and show your card. Neil will have a list of Tabs and member details so that each of us we can settle up at the end of the night. He or a member of staff will dial up your tab number and knock off the 10% from that. So ensure you put all drinks and food on your tab. His till will then show who’s had what, when and how much, which he can print out for us. So if any odd pattern shows up, if someone hasn’t been there for a while or their tab is different, then we can check it out.

I also picked up a loyalty card that will allow us to claim for all the food and drink in loyalty points, for the whole group. This means that we can store up points towards a free night out. This shouldn’t take too long with the amount that we could spend there. So good news all round.

He also invited us down to some of the family days they’re having in May/June. Bouncy castles and stuff.. FOR THE KIDS (& committee members only )!! With the 10% of course.

It seems that initial comments are all for the proper forming of the club.. So the next move is to get together and work something out…

I have started on an Application form & welcome note for the pack up, Andy is working on card design & stickers, Phil & Steve are on the Website… we just need formal positions setting up and some form of voting system…? Positions would be? ;

1. Chairman/women – Currently held by me.
2. Secretary – Currently held by Sticky?
3. Treasurer – Not filled
4. Events Secretary – Closest match is Dave
5. Website management – Phil & Steve

If you would like to be considered for any of the positions, or would like to join an existing position to help out, then please let me know and we will talk this through at the next meet. In fact I feel that we have enough to go to arrange an extraordinary meet at the Bridge this Thursday, to discuss all of this? Comments?

Andy, would this be too soon to show of any designs or productions? If so we can move it to week Thursday…

I’ll stop here so you can get your head around it all…

As newly appointed Events Secretery I feel I should point out a couple of changes to the RallyDrive day.

Sticky was concerned that it was unfair that there would be 3 people sharing his track car and only paying the one fee, so I suggested that we should charge additional drivers £5 (same as spectators). The monies from both additional drivers and spectators can be deducted from the £600 charge and what's left divided between the cars and primary drivers.

Also, some (Al) were a little put back by the early start last time. Given that most had had their fill by around 2pm, I think we can leave it while a little later. Say 8.15am meet for 8.30 convoy to arrive at 9.30ish.

The uptake has been a little slow, but some of that may be due to the site problems. I will give it a couple more weeks on WYIOC, but then I shall move it onto Snet to fill up any remaining places. I would like at least 15 confirmed before I pay the deposit, and the later I leave it the more chance we'll lose the date.

Any comments and opinions greatly appreciated.

I was trying to be amusing.

My little one gets up at 9, so anything before this has to be done in Stealth mode as she wakes easily. So trying to get me, my young-un and a flask out the dorr and starting up the car usually ends up with said nipper waking and shouting for 'Mommy!'..

I could try and extra spoon or two of Pyriton..

Early starts are no problem mate.. honest..

For her? or you?

Posting this here 'cos I can't get onto the WYIOC forum for love nor money

Thursday evening at the 'Bridge' will be fine. I'll knock up a few sample cards for you to drool over, er... I mean, pass comment on, a sample WYIOC sticker, and I'll bring me dictaphone to take minutes for the meeting

Couldn't you have nominated me for treasurer, I need a service, dump valve, and de-cat, so the cash would have come in useful (joke, BTW)

Sort out a time for Thursday. Are we convoying from Thornes ParK?

As newly appointed Events Secretery
By Whom , the person who could be bothered when most couldn't ?

Hope that dosnt sound too strong, and it was in no way pointed at CB, it was meant to be a cause for discussion.

If we are to have a commitee, I hope its not too formal, as the last year (for me anyway) of scoob ownership & meeting various characters has been good fun , very informal & I hope it stays that way, i'd hate to see it go the way of self elected people and strict rules etc , as most people would be put off by it (probably not the current "members")

I dont mean this to sound derogatory in anyway, but the current format seems to work, but we are missing the discounts that could be arranged and also the finance to progress, and the issues have now been raised

WE DO need a formal way to attract finance if the "Club" is to grow ,for (as I see it) the internet/website side of things and in the event of Andy supplying membership cards and also this news letter idea (because they do cost) and the people who contribute at the moment shouldnt be out of pocket. which most people already agree on
Also ..The attraction of new members also needs to be discussed or do we leave that to our presence on SNet ??, sit stale and hope someone else jions?? Or do we get flyers made up and put on the front seat of every impreza sold at KT Greens....?? etc..(this also is going to cost)

But I cant see any other costs involved apart from organised days, which IMHO shouldnt be part of any subsciption, but should be from people wanting to take part in the events and not feel obliged to, because they have paid subscriptions in advance.

I hope this dosnt sound too harsh

Regards

Phil

[michaelwinner] Calm down, dear [/michaelwinner]

No one has made any appointments of any kind yet. I think Dave's comment was meant to be tongue in cheek, that's certainly the way I saw it, he even followed it with a . Alans post appeared to be a 'suggestion' of possible positions, with possible people to fill them, based on the input given so far towards the 'club'. (i.e. Al would be chief blagger of freebies and discounts)

There are lots of things that still need discussion, as you point out, including ideas to get more members to join, appointing people for certain posts/roles, deciding on a fair suscription amount that will cover all costs (but at the same time give value for money), and coming up with a name without 'Impreza' in it (that last bit was a joke).
I for one certainly wouldn't want the format of the monthy meet at Fenay Bridge to change too drastically. I see enough paperwork all day long, the last thing I want to do is go to a meeting that's supposed to be for car enthusiasts, and then have to sit through half an hour of 'minutes from last month's meeting' type bollxs.

Perhaps the main thing to discuss is whether to bother going any further as a club at all, or to retain the status-quo, with informal meets and the odd event at no initial cost.

At last! Some discussion!

Phil, your points are valid and were answered by Sticky. I've said everything you've just said on a few posts of my own.

But without the Stella

I've mentioned voting or agreeing people in and asked for meet this Thursday to talk it all over... if this is too close, we can move it too next Thuirsday, but we do need to meet and thrash it all out, yes, over some Stella..

Al - let's get a date together preferably separate from the karting event so we can thrash this out. Otherwise, we'll be going round in the inevitable circles.

When you say this Thursday, do you mean tomorrow?? If so, I should be available for sensible discussion.....

Yep, tommorrow it is. 8pm at 'The Bridge'. I'll be leaving the Holmfield arms at about 7:35.

I won't be able to make it all evening, so I'll need to be away about 9:30.

Wow, look what i've missed the last few days....

Sorry fellas, I can't make this or next Thursday, works football fortunately/unfortunately, depending on which way you look at it.

I could send my brother along, but he's crashed his car and off the road Mmmm, who was it who said cut him some slack the other month when he drove my car back from the Bridge... he's ok tho and the car will be fixed....

I'll go along with the majority votes if this helps... I think this is all heading in the right direction, but like Phil I agree that the informal apect of the club should not be lost at any cost!! This club rocks afterall...

I'll be seeing Chris this evening anyway so i'll chat with him about this and he'll know pretty much my thoughts if you meet up tomorrow!!

Cheers chaps
