How far are we off now? I haven't even bothered fitting the dump valve yet. No point if I'm going to be disappointed with the initial silver fin.

Go Darms go.

LOL@darms Yep it could be a waist of time if the inserts are only a cosmetic thing according to some posts recently put up... re HKS are trying to pull a fast one

Gold seems to be the same as silver and only with purple being slightly different in producing the lower sound frequency. According to people who I've spoken (based on their own experience) they prefer the purple insert compared to the silver one and say it is defintely the better sounding one. But again there have been people here who would disagree with that and think purple is crap too...it could all depend on the application I suppose

Rob, why don't you fit your BOV as it's literally a 20 minute job and then you can interchange the inserts (if you get one) and make a comparison between them otherwise you won't know what the silver one sounds like.

OK peeps, have a good think about it before you deicide on anything...I'm always here!

Decisions decisions...
Simon

Your right Simon. I'll get it on this weekend just being lazy I guess. I even have the fitting kit in place from my current dump valve to stick it straight on so should only take me 5 mins.

Lets give the silver a try then....................

If the gold and silver look the same "shape" then maybe the difference is more subtle, e.g. the thickness of the aluminimum fins? Gold, 1.2mm and Silver 1mm...

Just a thought as it seems odd that HKS would be "pulling a fast one"?!

I have already ordered all three from Simon with the BOV. If ppl are not sure then once I get it I can post up my findings and thoughts...

Cheers

Molds

...just to manage expectations here I feel I should mention that my BOV is currently on order, and as yet is not winging its way to the UK. When it arrives I am off to TSL for an MOT, service and a few others goodies including having the BOV fitted. We could be looking at a month until I can get back to you all!

Question

So guys what is everyones consensus on this one then.....

Would everyone like to wait for Molds, or would you all like to go ahead with the GB.

I'm tempted to wait. Looks like the gold will certainly be a waste of money and as for the purple well.........read somewhere that someone has binned it and put the silver one back in.

Guess everyone will form different opinions anyway. Unfair to put the pressure on Molds. Mines running FULL decat with 1.2 boost so I expect it would sound different (better/ worse I dont know) than someone running standard.

Think I'll throw mine on tonight and lets see. Cant see it being anywhere near as loud as the twin piston one that I have on now though!!

OK - I purchased my SQV via the GB and for me it has made quite a difference to the performance of the car However like all of you I fancied purchasing the replacement inserts for it....what is it they say variety is the spice of life Anyway, I can honestly say that I have held the silver one and the gold one next to one another and thay look indentical except for the colour. I have now been running the Gold insert for the last few days and its the same noise pitch as the silver so for me the Gold is purely a cosmetic change...which if I'm honest does look better. The purple one I belive is different and again some comments have already been made that are quite negative about the sound it makes. I guess it all comes down to personal taste and some Scooby owners don't like the psssst of VTA's full stop let alone what sort of pitch

What I can say tho is that I originally fitted the VTA with a full decat and Vortex BB. However having refited the front cat (my car is MY00 ppp) and the Prodrive BB I can again honestly say that the SQV is as loud as it was before

Mmm. Fit mine last night. Took a bit longer than anticipated as I had to modify the bracket to hold the DV in place. Anyway I'm sure I have the purple insert or is it just me?? When looking from the front or from underneath (before it was fitted) I could see a purple cone like object. Is this the insert or does everyone have this?

That aside it's no where near as loud as the one I had on previously. I suspect it may loosen up with the miles. Light throttle produces a few high pitched "chatters". Under hard accelertion its a short aggressive release. Not sustained or again as loud as the twin piston one I had before.

I'm undecided about it. The noise is slightly disappointing but the car is certainly running better. I think the old one I had was opening too early which made acceleration a bit lumpy.

In conclusion I remain indifferent about it. Will they get louder with time? And whats the screw on the back all about. According to the pictures on the box this looks to adjust the spring. Has anybody tried fiddling with this yet

RLE - That screw on the back is the tension adjuster as you suggest. They are supposed to be optimaly set from the factory but guess thats open to interpretaion!
