i have tried most tyres and i would say the followings
Pirelli,S more like plastic than rubber could get the car out of shape in dry
Toyo,s passable in the dry / sh*t in the wet
Bridgestone Reo10 - Top Mark for these offer better grip as slicks (well the were when they came off) and that was after pushing it hard in wet at night going some against an R32
Currently running Bridgestone S02 Pole position - perhaps the best to date awesome in all conditions

Trout2 how come your in the minority where Toyo tyres are concerned.
I think as your the only one who rates them in the wet or damp you my son must be the one who's driving like an old lady and thinks they FEEL great,LOL.
Get some more posts under your belt before passing comment,New boy.

...somewhere over the rainbow!!!
Zippy...
Do you drive anything like your mate Bungle?
Trout is right. I reckon you should try taking your Rainbow costume off before getting behind the wheel in future...
Toyos get my vote mate!!!

An observation
Why is it if someone does not like something they can write war and peace yet if they like it it only needs a few words........
It is like the old addage. An unhappy customer will on average tell ten others of their disatisfaction yet someone who has had good service will on average only tell 3 people..
Just an observation.......
All the best
Pete
PS. I am going to give the Toyo's a go.

Well im baffled after reading all that lot, i'm ordering some tyres today, see my thread called 'tyres neeed asap' , dont know what to do now, goodyears were a little more than i wanted to spend at £98, toyo's were ok ish at £82, thought of avon as i've had a few of these on other cars, but not sure there any good for a scoob and they were still £79 so toyo must be better than these. Someone even advised Kumho (i think) never heard of them??

It's all very subjective and depends a lot on your own personal driving technique and how you like the car to handle. I personally don't like the Toyo's and the way they feel on my car. This is purely personal and the only reason I posted my feelings was to generate a bit of debate.
Some people like the fact that the car slides a little more with the Toyo's and makes them feel like they are a driving God
Unless you go and try Kumho, Falken, Avon, Pirelli, Michelin, Toyo, Goodyear, etc.. for yourself, you'll have no way of knowing how they compare. Listen to peoples experiences and advice certainly but take a lot of it with a pinch of salt.
At the end of the day its a £300-£400 decision, so you either decide on cost (like the Avons/Kumho's) or so-called performance tyre, brand name, "you get what you pay for" and opt for a more expensive one.
Pity you can't try-before-you-buy, eh?

well i would like to have a total cost of £300 so that would work out to about £75 a tyre. I've gotta order today to make sure they arrive tomorrow for fitment, oh decisions decisions!!!

See it as a learning curve. I've tried 3 different sets of tyres on mine and I'm still looking for something that's better than the Eagle GSD-02's I had on my car for 2002-2003.
I may "try" another make/model of tyre just to test them out.
