Hey Andy, long time no see!! (except for your trouble causing on here of course).

Well, I went and looked at an S2k again today, after going to the Porsche dealership and feeling very out of my depth both financially and personal hygeeny, lol, something about asking for their cheapest boxster whilst stood next to something costing 60 grand, I showed myself out.

I really like the Honda, going to look at another tomorrow, so may swing it, dont have the visual presence of a 350Z, or the interior, but top does come off, and proven resale, and the non GT version is a little cheaper than the Z, but £300 more to insure.

Ive decided not to take the 350Z that was offered by Nissan, they are giving £750 off due to it being registered to their MD already, but its not enough, so I went and discussed it with them again today, but they wont give a penny, nor will they compete against Bank of Scotland's repayments on a brand new one with all the extras for £240/month (they want £313).

So, I either sell the Clio myself, get the 10 grand as dep, and take the BOS pcp, or I take a bit of a knock repayment wise and dont have the hassle of selling the clio, just get a part ex and take manufaturers pcp.

Ill see what Nissan and Honda can come up with tomorrow, also need to decide which I want!!

Went to a Honda dealer today, and test drove an S2000 for the first time.

These cars are massive fun!! the 350Z has lots going for it, but it doesnt compare in outright fun, and althou id be happy to own either, I ended up buying the S2k I test drove.

Nurburgring blue looks superb, and its the first time an S2k has visually held as much appeal as the 350 did when I first saw it. The top coming down is extremely cool too, havent had a convertable before, and today was a great day to have the lid off.

Pick it up in a week, which suddenly seems a long long way away...

I'm not considering spending 27k of my own money!! A 330i convertible would be nice but to much for the budget. Its just the 350z looks the dogs and the girls LOVE it!

Besides I get open top action on the GSXR750! Plus more speed than any car under 120k.

Everybody get a bike

the Rx8 has a GREAT engine. The rx8 is the engine, although having owned 4 Rx Mazdas I can be considered a little biased!. It is a drivers car, whereas the 350Z is more of a US inspired muscle car. Horses for courses.

Im still put off rotaries after my RX7 experiences.
They eat loads of oil, are prone to overheating, and none have done very high mileage yet to ascertain where and when the tips and water seals may go.
Also the low 20's MPG isnt particullaly good, the S2k manages a 28MPG average and has 240BHP!!

I also would be dubious about Mazda's "mechanics" having suitable rotary experience, I know they say they trained them, but its hard enough getting some normal pot engine issues diagnosed, never mind something the majority of Mazda mechanics havent really done much work with yet.

Add to that the fact I wasnt blown away by the looks, and I decided it just wasnt the car for me.

It's lovely - but £27.5K buys a lovely Boxster (say 2 years old) - then change it in 12 months for something else!
1 year down the line the Boxster will have lost £2-3K and I bet the Nissan loses £6-7K (a bit like an STi) .......

Job Done
