I dont have anything against the new scoobynet, it actually looks much better than the old one. Only problem I have is that I use scoobynet to get technical info (staying in Africa you dont have much access to Subaru tech stuff ) and since the search function stopped working I am stressing a lot.

Is it not working and will be fixed or is it part of the "members only" ??

I have not managed to understand that yet

Question i guess this is aimed at the guys who run the site if you're looking

my take on the lack of the search option is that at the moment the site is full of the same questions (ie what oil to use, were to buy it,what boost should i run etc) i know this coz i've posted these questions myself

the problem with this is a newbie knows no different, posts the same question that's been asked a few days earlier, doesn't know their way around the site and has no-one reply to a question they really need to know because the techies are a bit bored of posting the same replies (this isn't a pop at techies by the way!)

a while back a FAQ thread was compiled by some one and at the time it was recommended to make this a sticky at the top. surely this would be an easier option so anyone needing info can just look at that rather than needing to post the question? i found the FAQ in question superb and did just what i'm saying, taking the need to post a question away for the sake of going thru a few pages of really usefull info.

any chance of this? i think it would be a very usefull adition.

The search facility will be available to all once it is up to speed.

Yes mate, is that the cause of all my probs then. I'm just surprised the 22b and SIDC are still okay, as was SN2.

Its only happened over the last month and certainly wasn't the case when SN3 first started as it was okay then?

Pete, I don't know for definite, but I suspect it's something to do with it. Unfortunately, I'm only a contractor and I don't work in the relevant section to test my theory

I personally like the new scoobynet. I haven't been a member for very long (only about 4 months or so, ignore what it says in the profile bit ), but I have found information on here very useful. I don't own a Scoob, but I've wanted one since I was much younger (11), and thanks to scoobynetters I have a lot of information which will help me when I finally get round to buying one.
As for the search function, I know that the weby's are getting round to it.
Also many people have been posting saying things like 'I haven't been here for a bit but now I can't use search' or 'why can't I post in x forum' without appearing to have read the sticky's which explain this, then seem to get a bit uptight when responses aren't what they expected!
All I can really say, is keep up the good work Simon and Shaun, and Scoobynet has to change to keep up with the rest.

Hi Guys

Just another quick note to thank you all so much for your kind words and support. It may seem like just words, but it genuinely does mean a lot to us.

It is important also to be aware that the dramatic change in scoobynet's atmosphere over the last few months has not been down to shaun and I, or even the moderators, but can be 100% attributed to the true scoobynet community. We're delighted it is still alive and well

All the best

Simon

I have to say.......

The new scoobynet works 100% for me.

I can completely understand why the guys who run a site of this size need to maybe charge a bit of money to keep the thing going........

For gods sake........does everyone here really think that their money from their internet connection pays for them to have access to everything???

This site has long been the site i refer back to more than anything, I have met most of my friends from this site (the car related friends anyway) and now I have an Impreza I use the site as a source of info and amusement daily.

You dont get that from other sites. Not with the amount of variation and comedy you get from this one.

You dont lose out by not being a Plus member from the old site. you just gain if you are.........

Its up to you if you choose to donate to the site, but for people who are paying £20ish a month internet access I cant understand why people fail to see that paying £25 a year can only make it better!

AND YOU DONT HAVE TO!!!!

That is the main point here.......you have to pay nothing........why should you have any say at all in how the sit is run????

If you have no search........so what???? You are nothing to do with the site. If you cant post in for sale..........So what?? Do you own the site??

You are not paying the guys who own it........so you dont own the site. This site is established enough that those who dont like it enough can walk.......

The SN community will live on in the true car enthusiasts who understand what the original point of the website was........

Not the geeks who dont want to pay for a few pounds of internet time.

Rant over.

Hail all proper car enthusiasts ( I mean for ***** sake dont we all pay about £50 to drive 200 miles??)

I find I like the new layout and it is easy to use. Can't see the reasons for the complaints.

I have no problems with the new Scoobynet at all. Things change, just a shame people can NEVER accept change in a positive light.

Some people have been and gone, characters have disappeared, to be replaced by new characters. It is still THE best BBS to get an answer on any question you have, be it Scoob, non-scoob, IT, DIY or whatever.

Some of the old atmosphere may have gone from a few years back, but thats due to the community growing to the size it is.

At the end of the day its a free BBS for people to visit, so these moaning posts are not worth it. If it was a service we all paid £10 a month for, then moaning would be justified, but it isn't, its just a BBS/website for people to visit as they please.

Not sure why people spend so much of their life moaning about it, there are other things to do with yourself. Just be selective, read what you want to read, ask what you want then go to the pub or watch a film, or read a book, but dont spend your life worrying about "the good old days".

Reminds me of an old joke:

Q: "How many ravers does it take to change a lightbulb?"

A: "100 - 1 to change it, and the other 99 to say how much better the original was"

Wont mean much to some folk, but sound familiar.
