So far ive had e-mails from 22 people. so it still stands at £55 all in for now.
Chris, did you manage to confirm the price for 30-40 filters?
Perhaps this might encourage a few others to confirm if they are having one or not.

Come on everyone, we only need a few more to hopefully get the price down a few quid.

Ok i'm gonna phone scoobymania at 12.30 today and e-mail them all your details.

I will organise a time period for you all to call and make your payment.

Officially the group buy is now closed

Only 28 people have confirmed so far, however, if we have 30 (2 more need to e-mail me) by 12.30 then i will have some ammunition for further discount (although don't expect much)

Question

Bu99er, don't know how I could have missed this one, just can't have been at the top when I was grazing.

Looking at the previous 2 posts if they allow me to join that would make 30! do you think that the would then allow every one the additional discount?

Madmoog and IPALMER,

They said they would discount extra for 30, so if you phone them "together" and mention that fact, assuming they have stock, you might be doing us all a favour...

Default ****** UPDATE ******

Just received an e-mail from lee at Scoobymania:

Hi

When everyone calls on thursday i will take a non refundable deposit of 50%, when we have the above numbers agreed the parts will be dispatched

Cheers
Lee

I've since spoke to lee and in lamens terms - everyone on the above list needs to phone scoobymania on the thursday between 9 & 10 (obviously if its busy, keep calling) and pays the 50% deposit. once all 28 (or im assuming at least 20 of you) have phoned he will call you back, you pay the remaining 50% and your filter will be dispatched. If the agreed number of people dont call (like i say im assuming this to be over 20 as this is what the price was agreed on) then the price will be as normal, you will be given a choice - pay the full normal price or be refunded your 50% already paid (despite that the e-mail says non-refundable - it is). This may sound a bit odd i know, but thats the way they want to do it. Either way im not bothered, im not making anythinig from this and im having one regardless.

for those of you that have entered late, please e-mail Lee at Scoobymania with your details. He will add you to the list.

sales@scoobymania.com

For all - please note - that no further reduction will be made in the price as a deadline was set and we didnt make the reqd no by that deadline, irrespective of late joinees. Price still stands at £55. Sorry, I tried.

Not surprised. 28 @ £55 compared to 30 @ £51, they'd lose out on a tenner...

I'm sorry but that's a bloody strange way of doing business - and it doesn't sound like they want ours.

They won't be able to take 28 credit card payments in an hour, probably more like 12 - and that's if everyone calls at exactly the right time. They'll then use that as an excuse to charge everyone full whack.

It's also ridiculously restrictive - I can't call between 9 and 10am as I'll be in theatre then, and it's considered bad form to stop halfway through an operation to hang off the end of the phone for an hour hoping to get through to someone (who's looking to get over £1400 of business in one deal!).

I'm sure a lot of people won't be able to compromise their entire morning in that way either.

Lee, yesterday.

Obviously not everyone is going to make the phone call between 9 & 10 - I totally agree, id be stupid to think otherwise. I wouldn't expect you to come out halfway through an operation just to buy a filter.

Its a bizzare process, i agree, but its lee's decision.

Unfortunately this is the way lee wants it, alternatively it would have been easier and quicker if i had passed on all your credit card details on monday - but i personally wasnt happy and from the ealry e-mails i received it as apparant everyone else wasnt happy with credit card details being passed via unsecure e-mail.

I'm sure if you ring after 10 o'clock or even in the afternoon we'll still get it at the discounted price.

If it all goes 'pete tong' I apologise in advance. I wanted the filter regardless anyway and with prompting from a fellow scoobyneter i thought id see about a discount for other users. If your not happy, then I'm SORRY, blame Scoobymania.

I’d like to offer a bit of support to Chris here.
IMO It’s very easy to express dissatisfaction at the terms that have been finalised for the group but at the end of the day, if it wasn’t for people like Chris who are willing to take on the responsibility of organisation; - there wouldn’t be a group buy. Scoobymania are obviously able to dictate the terms & price because they have the filters. I agree that a 1 hour time slot for people to call is unrealistic. I’m self employed and if I get a call in the morning which means I’m out between 9 & 10 then tough, I’ll phone when I can. Those people who call and leave a deposit will get the option of a refund if the terms of the group buy aren’t met. It cannot be fairer than that. We should reserve comments until after the group buy has taken place and then ask “how as a group of like minded individuals we can increase our influence on suppliers”.
Finally, big thanks to Chris for sorting the group buy. Any discount means more money in our pockets for Optimax .

cheers DJ

Unlike in most group buys, with this one you havnt 'yet' parted with any money or more importantly your card details.

At the end of the day as long as everyone who gave me their details phones lee 'sometime' tomorrow we'll be sorted. the emphasis is on YOU.

Bttt for tomorrow morning.

I don't think Carter was having a go at Chris D... he was having a go at Scoobymania, and quite right too. It is indeed a farcical attitude that they have undertaken. And it's not as if they're giving us a massive discount. As Carter says, they're gonna make £1500 out of this in no time at all.

Personally, if I was Scoobymania, I'd be thinking "here's an opportunity to make my company 'Group Buy Friendly', stealing a LOT of future business from similar suppliers." But instead, I think their attitude is "An easy £1500, **** potential future business". Oh well, their loss.

Anyway, I'd like to echo Mister DJ's final comment. Nice one Chris D.

Thinking about it, I have to agree with Phil. If half the people drop out because of that comment, I'm not going to be very impressed, never mind how Chris would feel...
