Motul 300v competition group buy

Fuz,
Despite continuously logging in and writing a message to you, the bulletin board keeps telling me (after typing the message) that I'm not logged in - try again.
Thanks for your efforts.
Is having 2 times 4litres and 1 times 2litres was a different price to that quoted in your message. I am dubious that getting two sets of 5litres any other way would imply using the older type oil that came in 1litre containers.

M8 - cant say I've received an e-mail from you on this yet. (diesel.evans@zealtv.net) Particularly interested in the customer friendly 2 X 5L deal rather than this 4L nonsense - after all I put more oil than that on my pasta FFS
Also, do you do Nectar points on the deal - wouldnt normally ask, but the missus has bad teeth and needs one of those Braun toothbrushes sharpish

Hi mate,
I am going to leave it for now as after reading some info from various sources I'm not sure this will be the best oil to suit my driving patterns (I do mixed driving including a lot of short journeys, in town etc). Thanks for sorting the GB though.
Paul.

I just done a search on google, can't remember the exact phrase but it was probably just "motul 300v" cos many of the references are scooby related anyway.
Some of the results went to various forums (including this very thread!), one that caught my eye was on NASIOC in the US where it was suggested that Motul is great for protection when driving hard, doing trackdays etc, but for doing a lot of short journeys an oil with the "magnetic" effect polymers (can't remember the proper term) may provide better protection at cold startup even though it's less effective than the Motul when warm. So when I thought about how often I actually give the car some welly compared to the number of cold starts it gets I thought maybe it would be better with something like Mobil motorsport or Millers CFS.
I'm not saying any of this is definitive as I don't really know much about it, although I do believe there's some justification in the thought that using a competition oil isn't really worthwhile in a car that only spends 5% of its time being driven hard, and even then it isn't for long enough periods to get the oil temps soaring.

BTW Can anyone elaborate with any definite techy knowledge on this? I know that Motul uses a different kind of polymer from say Mobil-1 (which supposedly makes it better for track use). And don't confuse my use of the phrase magnetic-effect polymer with Magnatec, that's only one of many oils that use that kind of engineering and I believe there are several fully synth that do as well.

Just for interest...
I have spoken to the technical department at International Motors and they have confirmed that they do not recommend fully synthetic oils for their vehicles. It would be okay to use them for topping up purposes if you cannot get hold of anything else. They feel there are constituents in fully synthetic oils that can be detrimental to their engines.
Whilst they acknowledge that promoting Shell oils is may be for marketing purposes, they recommend semi synthetic API certified oils with a viscosity of 10W40 (for the English climate) is what is recommended.
