Am picking mine up on the 21st May, cant wait! Bye bye Saxo hello Evo
Luxie,

Went for a silver one - actually looks good and is easy to look after, hides scratches, dings etc and easy to clean. I still think that every car looks beter in black but, having a black CTR company car, I am fed-up with it always looking like I've been rallying or driving through plagues of locusts......

You will love it I am sure.

Perhaps my wife has just become too used to the more comfortable things in life, in which case, hopefully this will jolt her back into life and she might lose a few years!!!!;-)

Can anyone who's got one comment on the slow launching of the 260 ? I read that a second rev limiter stops the engine going over 5k rpms with the clutch down (probably to save clutch warranty claims !) which means a certain degree of 'bogging down' off the mark, hence the comparatively 'slow' 0-60 time.
I was considering one myself, but it still seems a bit harsh for use as a daily driver compared to the Scoob

I've got an 03 WRX and as opposed to having an STi next (with Prodrive suspension etc), I'm seriously debating a 260 ..... particularly as I think the smaller spoiler is much better looking and less "in ya face" .......

They don't want official figures as it would make the car to close powerwise to the 300bhp MR which is £4 more.
Only 4 pounds more....that is cheap....

Evo VIII is not even out officially yet in Aus. So, so jealous.

Roadtest in latest Evo Magazine has the 260 hitting 0-60 in 5.6 secs and maxing out at 152mph so pretty good figures i reckon. I'm an ex Saxo VTS owner so those figures impress me alot. Only 10 and a bit days till i pick mine up now
McRash i nearly went for one in Silver but Red won the vote from eveyone i asked.

Talking I want one too!

Went to the Mitsubishi Dealership today. They had an MR 260 in the showroom, but could not give a demo. I therefore took the FQ 300 For a wee run.

Now I know that you are going to say that it is not fair to pass judgement from driving this car..... but......

Outright pace aside, I was totally in awe of how well the car handles and grips, hence the 260 will be the same (maybe have to put the sticky yoko's on it...)

It made my STI 7 PPP feel like a bag of sh*te and I have no doubt in my mind that a 260 model would eat my car for breakfast in anything other than a straight line. Magazine reviews (Evo etc.) back this view up with times set at the Bedford Autodrome.

In fact, the Prodrive STI fairs better to 100 because of the Launch you can get. There will therefore be very little in it....especially when you have one less gear to ****** in the Evo.

Needless to say, the next car on my drive will not be a subaru.........

Evo tastic!!!!

Go for it mate! Pick mine up in 4 days did the salesman tell u the 260 woz an MR? As it's not, its just a 260. The salesman where i went told me that too! Have heard alot of rumours that the 260 is infact 285bhp tho, altho like i say its just rumours till a few start appearing on RR's. The rumour is that Mitsubishi have pulled a fast one and claimed its 261bhp so as to not take sales away from the current 280FQ and 300FQ.

all UK EVOVIII FQs have now been sold, the new MR is the only FQ available, starting with the MR FQ300 which is the same as the old standard GSR,but due to the fact of better engine output,it puts out over 300hp,the MR320 has the same upgrades as the old FQ300,HKS hard pipe kit, exhaust and panel filter which takes the power to over 320hp,and then the MR340 which is the same as the old FQ330,HKS hard pipe kit, exhaust, panel filter and ECU,which puts out over 340hp,do a de-cat on any of these 3 and add approx another 20hp,there have been quite a few FQ330s on a RR at close to 360hp,mine is a FQ300 with a de-cat and puts out approx 325hp.On the 260 the exhaust is very restrictive, get rid of that and your at 300hp no trouble, also the 260 doesnt have the bilstein suspension or aluminium roof that the MRs come with, and comes with the VII 5sp box,and launch is limited to 5000rpm,hence the slower 0-60 time.

Default Luxie - how is it for you?

So, you should now have had it - what do you think?

I have just managed to rack up the 1st thousand miles and have it booked in for the oil change and de-swarf week after next. Until then it is still less than 5k revs.

I have noticed though how easy it is to pull away from Audi TTs and BM330s even without going over 4.5k revs - quite amazing really - it just has soooo much torque at 3200-4500 and I guess up to around 6k when I finally get it run in!

I use my CTR for all my miles hence the 3 weeks so far to get to 1k.

Impressive car - still absolutely bewildered by the Kenwood stereo though - cannot get it out of Demo mode and it sounds crap too and I don't know why unless they fitted poor speakers. I guess I will find out when I wheel it into the garage.

Default 260 - fuel consumption definitive

In the 1st 1000 miles it has averaged around 24mpg - with the engine being tight it may increase but there again, I will be revving harder so that will offset the benefit. I reckon that 22 will be a combined reality. Same as the new Sti pretty much.

Thanks McRash!
As long as it's over 20mpg - then it's an option for me!
My WRX does about 25mpg, did 34mpg when running in though!

McRash.... i'm picking it up at 3 on Saturday now, had a few problems getting someone to fit the Tracker so a day later than planned.
So do i need to take the car in after 1000 miles for an early service and do i have to pay for that too?

I'm afraid so......about £60 I think. The WRX was the same - just a 1st oil change from the super thin running in oil and a de-swarf. The oil that they put in for the next 3500 miles should be semi synthetic or that Magnatec stuff just to allow a bit more bumping and grinding/smoothing for the 1st few thousand before you move completely to Mobil 1 or equivalent which is extremely protective.

Make sure you get the mats - still waiting for my "free" mats......

Hmm spose 60 quid aint too bad but think it should really be free! I've had to order my RalliArt mats and have been told they're £100 and they cant let me have them for free as thats where they make their money bit annoying but they wont budge on it, gonna push for a tank of fuel as they've messed me about.
So can u take your own oil when servicing is due u reckon? could be cheaper as g/f works at Halfords and i'm sure they do Mob1.

McRash...... got it mate and love it!!!! Bit annoying having to run the bugger in but i'll clock the miles up quick as possible sticking to a max of 3500rpm for first 200miles wont be easy lol.
Feels very responive already, even wiv the restrictions on revs and steering is so light it doesnt feel like a big car.
Mines number 0486 wots yours mate?
