Newer ECU (MY01 onwards, IIRC) can hold two sets of maps. Therefore you can have a 'performance' map which you use most of the time, and then another map altogether. That could be whatever you want - for example, a near-standard map or a minimal boost 'I don't trust the driver' map.

Milo,

I suppose I was meaning more of the "emergency" type warranty claims where something's gone bang / pop when you're not in a position to change anything, e.g. on holiday and you get towed in to nearest dealer...

Plus, if it's relatively common knowledge how to swap between maps, who's to say that a dealer wouldn't try it to see if anything happens :-(
