ecu remap

hi
advice on a remap for an sti typ r v limited 5
1. cost
2. where to
as close to south wales as possible
thanks

virgin 11 February 2004 10:18 PM

power engineering

cost around 680 to 720 ,dependent on how much u sweet talk them

Br developments , cost 750 , better mapper , but the bottom line is bloke for Br developments cracked the ecu re-map code first,in the UK but used to work for powerenginnering or something like that anyway ,but the point being there the best mappers in the UK that are nearest or even point blank

BR Developments map on the road
Power enginnering map on the ramp,

Personnelly map on the road would be better (real driving conditions)

Had mine done on the ramp, they did a great job,but i cant stop thinking they just used the settings from a scoob earlier that they had with the same mods, plus the car seemed to be left to cool down alot rather than lots of button pushing on a laptop in my drivers seat.

Go Br developments, aparently there better, there always booked up, and it looks like you get yours moneys worth.

good luck m8

i was at power engineering on tuesday asking about remaps, they said they wouldn't touch my sti 5 for fear of it being too 'fragile' an engine

might try BR developments

BR Developments have an excellent reputation, and I believe that they work out of Swindon, which is somewhat closer to you than Power Engineering.

Speak to Bob or Branko at B R Developments, getting my car done there this March. A mate and fellow scoobynetter who has the same car as you and I, has just had his done there and is still grinning.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat ?? "bobs not nice".......... are we speaking about the same person ?? Words fail me

Bob Rawle TeK3'd my Bugeye with TDo5 etc like a complete Professional / gentleman.

Still lost for words on that last post.....

Farmer WRX

Calmed down now ...Get Guru Bob to map it for the road :D :D :D :D

Is you MY year better mapped with a Link ECU ??

Midlife.....

gothinducky 12 February 2004 12:19 AM

Bob mapped my STi V (so far the non fragile engine model!) last year and It recently produced 307bhp and 310 lbft on Prosports rollers. A nicer and more knowledgable bloke you couldn't hope to meet. Branko can sometimes wind people up the wrong way (doesn't suffer fools gladly) but he's a top bloke when you meet him. He drove my car while Bob carried out the re-mapping. Me and my mate sat in the back - I didn't have my eyes closed all the time. It's an interesting experience - 7000 rpm in 4th on the Swindon dual carriageways in Saturday afternoon traffic ;-)

I would also recommend BRD, not so sure on the above comments though, he doesnt bite!!, i think you will find bobs is a gentleman, Branko is, shall we say very efficient :D

Greeno 12 February 2004 08:42 AM

Would this be benificial on a 93wrx import...

I thought supply and map would be around the £1500 mark, i could be tempted for the £700 mark...

Cheers,

John.

Andy McCord 12 February 2004 08:46 AM

TEK3 is only avail for MY99 onwards

Fatman 12 February 2004 08:50 AM

Greeno - perhaps you were thinking of the Link ECU? I believe that Bob's also got a good reputation for Link mapping. Best to ask BRD what's available for your model of car. Or, just post a thread asking that question in the General Technical forum.

simb 2 12 February 2004 06:18 PM

Gothinducky - What Ecu did you have with those results or did you acheive those results from a Tek 3?

currymonster 12 February 2004 06:25 PM

Bob rawle of BRD Developments gets my vote

gothinducky 12 February 2004 08:09 PM

simb,

Std ECU with TEK3 upgrade. My car also has a scoobysport downpipe and backbox, but that's it.

Nick.

THOMO 12 February 2004 09:26 PM

BOB HAS GIVEN ME SOME GOOD ADVICE OVER THE YEARS THROUGH EMAILS.AND IVE NEVER MET HIM.P E WAS GOOD WHEN MERVE WAS THERE .DONT KNOW ANYONE ELSE
GOOD SERVICE THOUGH.

simb 2 12 February 2004 10:09 PM

Cheers Nick, if I can acheive that lbft figure you've got, i'll be well chuffed.

The Link ecu is a new Ecu in replace of the standard one and then mapped to your car, the Tek 3 is a Re-map of your existing Ecu.

simb

salsa-king 12 February 2004 10:46 PM

oh.. so Tec3.. could keep your warranty?. as no one would know you'v been 'altered'?

Not too sure on that, they could proberly tell from the boost being increased.

simb

Andy McCord 13 February 2004 07:18 AM

AFAIK TEK3 undetectable with select, but as simb quite rightly points out boost level is a giveaway, Nick, interesting choice of usernames mate, must find out what it means :D

salsa-king 13 February 2004 08:42 AM

so are Tec 3 selectable as ON or OFF?
is it an option if you have Tec 3 fitted ;)

No phil, its not switchable, just full on!!! :D

Midlife...... 13 February 2004 09:43 AM

Heard a rumour that you can switch between original and new TeK maps by fully depressing throttle and toggling the rear screen heater.

Apple 13 February 2004 12:14 PM

What amazes me is that some people must think they can turn off the mega-map so the car runs as though it's never been touched and then go into a dealers with a drainpipe exhaust on you can hear for miles, a full decat and countless knows whatever other tweaks ;) and claim it's "standard"... :D

i suspect that in the event of a warranty claim needed, they'd also replace the exhaust (and anything else) back to standard too.

not that id condone that of course...

salsa-king 13 February 2004 03:32 PM

Apple.. you mean you can't? lol
