i have used Drive for warranty and service work and would advise you to avoid them. A word of advice, inspect your car before it goes in and when you get it back, mine was damaged and i have also heard of similar problems from other people.

Where should we go to avoid Drive then? What seems to be the best place - Should I go to AF Nobles or somewhere else?!

I have used nobles in the past and found them to be head and shoulders above both drive and t&c of perth, unfortunately penicuik isn't the most convenient of places to get to and from whilst your car is having the work carried out.

I think I may well cancel the service I booked with Drive (whom I bought my car from) and go to Nobles - I have only just realised that they are about 15 minutes from my work - amazed - I thought they were further away!

Nevermind, when I bought my car from Drive they had the best car for the best price that I was looking for - I am happy with their sales service - it was good and they did follow up to see if I was happy with the car and did bother to write to me to thank me for my purchase.

Alright - Question 2 - Who has used A F Noble in Penicuik, near Edinburgh and what do you think of their service department?

STI-04 - I would just go with the car if Nobles can't supply - the difference is minimal and when iot comes to trade in time the Dealers don't care if it even has a service history so I doubt the build year will even be asked. It will be traded as a 2004 WRX - STI Type U.K. at whatever price and whatever condition etc. As I said, I found their sales to be good. Just because you buy your car there does not mean you have to ever go back there for servicing or warranty etc. I am sure Nobles will be glad of the business!

I work quite near Cameron Toll down from Newington on Craigmillar Park. Did not realise A F Noble was so close to me. I will 'phone them tomorrow. I have no reason not to trust Drive but peoples general feeling about their service is not great and if people get good service from Nobeles then that is EXACTLY what I am looking for.

Anyone know the price of a 10,000 WRX service (2003) at Nobles?

I switched to Nobles from Fraser Andersons with my 1st Impreza back in 98' and cannot fault either the sales or service dept, although I know a few have had issues with both. My personnal experience has always been good.
I went direct from Drive to Nobles and bought an Sti, no hassles, price for the old car was fair and non of the usual joke offers that others had offered!!

Brian you'll not go wrong this Nobles mate, defo the best we have available in our area. Other than that it's S&S in Ayr.

hi guys,

swifts, do they do full subaru service. i've just recently bought my MY04 WRX. its an EU import. to be honest would rather keep away from mainstream scooby dealerships, as i personally think they are liberty takers with there prices. would it be any cheaper at swifts, and do they use genuine subaru parts. would they also carry out warranty work if required.

do any of you's have the telephone number.

appreciated

Hi Keevster,

George at Swifts could, I am sure, do a full Subaru service for you. He knows his way around. Also, when he does my oil service he gets the parts from Nobles in Penicuik so the parts he would get for your service would be specially ordered in for you anyway.

Go down and have a chat with him - I am sure you can come to some arrangement. Tell him Brian with the silver 2003 WRX who had an oil service done there sent you.

Brian.

John - I have cancelled my Drive Subaru service and I have rebooked it with Nobles. They seemed very helpful on the phone and what's more - they open for business at 7:30AM - that gets my vote - for getting it to them before work and they will, I see from their site, drop me off at work, (race it to death down the road, get flashed by Gatsos 5 times and kerb my wheels) then pick me back up, all within easy distance of my work!!!

Hopefully not the bracketed bit. Anyway, I am off on Monday - I am insane to have it booked in for service at 7:30AM - the service person did ask me "Are you sure?". Best in early - that way it does not get shoved down the job cards for that day. Mechanic will hopefully be awake.

Subaru quote 10,000 miles or 1 year for a minor service and 30,000 miles and 3 years for a major service. Phone them up and ask them for a copy of the service schedule or get someone to send you a scan of their service book inside?!?

10,000 miles is joke really - 5,000 miles MAX for an oil change - crazy to go beyond it, especially if you want to look after your car and help it run well.

Brian, they also do loan cars if booked well in advance along with picking your car up from work or home by flatbed IIRC. One of our mechanic type chaps here at BP got his picked up 1st thing and returned before the end of his shift.

BTW I've no involvement with Nobles and don't receive any kickbacks for drumming up business for them. Well not at the moment anyway
