How are you doing mate.I have been watching your project with interest and it spurred me into buying another damaged motor myself.Mine was a slightly harder hit type r but nearly all the damage was identical.I bought the car a month ago and did all work myself(should have taken photos)and it will hopefully be going for sva at the end of the week.Anyway i was just wondering if you had got the cam pully yet and checked your engine, mine to suffered the same problem and i had to purchase a new pully(top drivers side, a second hand metal one was sourced for £25)and a power steering pully and the belts of course. With everything in place the car started first time so hopefully you will have the same success.Anyway good luck with the completion and why not treat yourself to some nice clear indicaters,i have some on my white 94 wrx and i think they make a clean car even cleaner

also hows the colour match between the new white parts and the old ones?
most older classics i have seen in white, have been easy to spot when it comes to new white parts, the bodyshop i use had a hell of a time trying to match my shade of white up, and actualy gave me my car back and said they didnt want to paint it as it wouldnt look right

'tis a facelift bonnet and the pins are that tight because it's a crap fit might try adjusting it a bit better closer to finishing it
the white isn't a bad match - not rubbed it down finally yet so not had chance to see if it's a match - good enough for me though
got the cam pulley today so hopefully will have some good/bad news over the weekend

Well you have to have more luck with it compared to the luck your brother had with that Clio! which is not difficult.
I have no idea if the Scoob engine is classed as a non-contact engine or not..
I had an MR2 Turbo and the cambelt went at 95.. fitted a cambelt and it started first turn of the key and ran find for another 30k before I sold it on.. but that WAS a non-contact engine..

lunchtime
it runs! put all the spark plugs back in and fired it up (only for a couple of seconds as there was no rad) sounded fine, no noises, i'm now in the process of fitting the rad at the moment, doesn't quite fit as it's not the right one but it will might take it round the block when i've finished, what's the fine for driving an unregistered car with no tax, MOT or insurance?
