LOL

The Join dates are set to Jan 1970 for all that did not have a join date in the previous software. We're going to sort this out over the next 2 weeks.

Cheers

Slightly mixed...I really did like the simple no thrills old one.

It was a key thing to me sticking on this BBS.

But things looks good so far, readability is a lttle less easy, but that may be me needing to adjust. So so far so good

Just plase don't clutter the place up with loads of avatars and ads, speed it up little and I think we'll have utopia

There shouldn't be any lost threads. All threads should be imported. Please check that you are using the options correctly (show threads from last 2 days, etc, etc).

Agreed, the look is very different, so it will take time to get used to it (or not).

We can soon sort out all of that sort of thing, once we get the site stable enough to be useable.

Thanks for all the nice comments chaps.

Speak soon.

The VIP still functions in this software, but it is now called a BUDDY LIST. If you click on a users name (on a post) you can set this person up as a buddy (along with other options).

Regards,
Shaun.

Teeting problems!

We are getting the performance stable first (which we are getting there) and will follow up on any tweaks within the next 14 days.

Shaun.

I prefer this to the old system. I'm used to more feature rich BBS systems, and so the implementation of vBulletin is quite welcome. Unfortunately, I can't even take a **** without the BBS telling me I do not have sufficient permissions

I'd just like to echo other people's opinions on signatures: no signatures! They really break up the flow of a thread, especially if they're cluttered with huge images. This is a particular problem for us dinosaurs still on dial-up connections... I want my puny 32Kbps (cack phone line) to be spent downloading content, not crap siggys.

I can't imagine the effort and grief it's taken to port over all the old content to a new BBS. Three cheers for those who've given up their time to make it possible

I quite like it now it's actually running at a reasonable (not great) speed, also posts seem to be displayed more clearly on my screen now than earlier ?

I take it the "new posts" quick link isnt working yet ?

Very nice! Sure has a different look to the old one, but it's nice. Seems pretty quick as well atthis time of the night anyway.

I have to agree with OllyK on the "favourites", i.e. favourite posts. I had saved heaps of threads with full technical info which I had at my finger tips whenever I wanted them. If we can get that feature added again, it would be great.

Cheers,

George.

Question

Will be a bit fed up if Favorites can't be recovered, as I could have made arrangements to save techie stuff if there had been advance warning (Assuming I didn't miss it!!)

Not sure if i like it or not yet, having said that I'm still campaigning for the reversal of decimilisation.

Carbon fibre logos, oh dear......

How are you suppose to check on your recent threads/posts, tried to add myself to my 'buddy list', but not allowed. This was a quick and efficent way of monitoring this.
