FMIC....where from?
I am impressed with the pictures and the apparent quality of the kit...
How much was the kit,are they still available, where from and will it fit a MY93 WRX with air-con?
steve.

If you look HERE Harvey has said there he may be arranging a 3rd group buy when the 2nd is completed. The price is dependant upon duty but is around the £400 - £450 mark. Can't see a problem fitting the kit with Air-Con.

if you are looking for some quality mesh then go to your local Jewsons et al and pick up some "bug wire".
it is used for exterior rendering. its made by "expemat" it has diamond/oval holes about 5mm x 10mm. its strong too. also i think it is galvanised.

Can you use this FMIC together with a TD04 ?
And do I need a remap (Ecutek) afterwards ?
I noticed also that all you guys use a different air filter as the orignal.
Is it possible to install a FMIC with the original airbox ?
Creepy

I personally wouldn't try it with a TD04 as it will probably be very laggy. As with any major modification a remap will be needed to make the most of it.
You cannot use this FMIC with the stock airbox.

I actually put it on a WRX Wagon M/Y 95 with TD04 and it was OK, better for spool than with a TD05 i recckon but i can see where Andrew is coming from. Following his same train of thought I am now installing a TD05-06 20G from Andy F but i am stalled a little bit because of other priorities.

What a turd of a job!!!!!
Got my FMIC on today, nightmare with the IC to throttle body pipe touching the bonnet - needing a good shove to close the bonnet, and the Knock link is more active - hopefully this is vibrating pipework etc.
It also held back @ WOT 6,000 rpm - all jubilees tight etc .
Hopefully i'll be able to sort it out tomorrow.

Reset the ecu and take it easy it might learn enough to compensate.. but it might not.

OK JGM, will check that out.
With the FMIC, it gets noisy at the same point as with the standard IC - and it was not det then (red LED)
When i started the car i could feel a slight vibration in the car from the IC to throttle body pipe touching the bonnet, and the gearbox dipstick was touching the turbo to IC metal pipe.
Bumper off again tomorrow i think, to check all jubilees etc.
I am going to see Bob Rawle soon to have a proper listen again.
Cheers

Iain, glad to hear you are making progress, did you have a problem with the turbo outlet pipe touching a coolant hose (see last photo on page 1) ?
On mine this prevented the pipe from being correctly positioned which in turn caused the pipe to the throttle body to be too high.
Good idea on the fan move - never thought of that!

No mine was perfectly ok Andrew , about half an inch clearence from the coolant hose - which is nice .
Throttlebody pipe sits just on the edge of the washer bottle, i couldn't get it to locate away from that, not unless i decided to bend the pipe a little, which i don't want to do.
Apart from that, and a few niggles it all seems ok - just the coolant problem to look at now

No m8, all seems to be ok though I may get a turbo blanket which will insulate some of the heat away from the pipework. Since the photos were posted I have since modified the pipework again as I wasn't too happy with it.

Managed to find my coolant leak, downside is i can't get to the banjo bolt with the turbo in situ.
Basically the bottom waterbanjo has caught against the bellhousing (even though i modified it - needs more shaved off the bell housing!!) and worn a small hole in it. Thought it would be a 5min job to repair, but the banjo bolt appears to be an odd size (in between a 18mm and 19mm ), and the easiest way is to remove the turbo and repair properly.
Luckily i have a day off tomorrow, and the use of a friends car lift - so i'm hoping 3 - 4hrs.

Wierd noise after installation
Has anyone noticed the strange noise the car now makes after fitting the Hybrid FMIC.
Even with my HKS BOV on I get a CHA CHA CHA CHA when I lift off the throttle at cruising speed.
It sounds like the turbine chopping the air but I thought the BOV was supposed to stop this?

I think you will find that that instead of all the boost pressure being vented from the BOV/Recirc a large quantity of it is venting back through the turbo - hence the chuffing noise is prolly coming from the airfilter. Mine did the same - I reduced the spring tension on the bonnet of my VTA DV which seems to have solved the problem

I have completed fitting quite a few other Mods but I have had a setback recently (Not Car Related) which has prevented me from fitting further Mods, hopefully I will be able to resume where I left off shortly

As far as problems are concerned long term AFAIK there may be an issue with the air being vented through the turbo damaging the intake compressor vanes as it is likely to be stalling the turbo.
