Can we stay on topic please.
Either that or you will end up having the thread locked/moved and that is in no ones interest.
For those who don't know, this thread is discussing the Litchfield T25, not the ins and outs of modifying cars or how big each others wallets/dicks/egos are.
I thank you.
Cheers
Ian

My final word on the subject.
My original post was on topic, pointing out the T25 was specifically engineered using tried and tested parts.
The remainder was admittedly a personal rant, but the one thing that gets my goat is a)hypocrites, b)pomposity and c)people who make sweeping assumptions and generalisations without any knowledge of a subject.
If anyone with half an ounce of intelligence goes back and reads Deeps original post you will see the entire post is full of ignorance, and more importantly ASSERTIONS as opposed to QUESTIONS.
Usually I wouldn't respond, and as anyone who knows me on here will testify, I never get involved in these type of arguments (I challenge anyone to find otherwise in any of my posts) but given that I have seen Deep do exactly what he is now criticising now that he is moving on, and the manner in which he did it just got my goat. Deep seems to also forget that we have met, and that he ripped me off with a downpipe after being told it was no good. I think his last reply pretty much sums him up, and actually made me LOL.
Back on topic, my own Scooby finally goes this week, and I have had my heart set on a TVR 350C. But now the issues of insurance and warranty have been addressed its now a tough call between that and the T25. I don't currently have space for 3 cars, so the TVR would have to be my daily driver, and I'm just not sure that is feasible, plus I also do a lot of work related mileage. I also get the feeling the T25 will be more tractable around town with the 2.5L.
Has any of the guys who brought the 2.5L block into the country for their own cars got them set up yet? I'm guessing the T25 is achieving that figure with relatively low boost, it'll be interesting to see what it can achieve with more. Anyone know what the turbo is good for?

Having only spoken to Iain on the phone a few times mainly regarding ECUs, he obviously has a complete rounded and reliable package in mind.
The 2.5 STi engine is a transformation to a car when you are used to driving a 2.0.

I'm not going to respond to any of your other comments Ed because its not worth the time. I take great exception to your comment questioning my integrity and ripping you off. I do remember you and selling you an up pipe which I had originally bought from someone else. I told you in no uncertain terms that it was second hand (which was evident from the marks on it) and to make your own enquiries as to whether it was suitable or not for your vehicle as Im not a parts dealer. I think you paid £40 for it if memory serves. I have never heard anything from you regarding it being faulty or damaged or whatever you think the problem was. You had my mobile number so could have contacted me at any time. You did'nt.
You seem to make personal insults a favourite past time and now have decided to label me a 'rip off merchant' without a care in the world. I have over three years bought and sold loads of stuff on the bbs and always conducted myself in a honest manner and treated people the way I would want to be treated. Many here could testify to that.
If you honestly think I would tarnish my reputation for £40 you are even more bonkers that I thought you were.
You really need to get out more.

LOL, you're having a laugh right? What about the fiasco with the complete system / scoobysport up / downpipe etc? You should see a doctor about those memory problems Maybe I should trawl up some of the old threads and refresh it seeing as I don't get out much? (BTW given that I own and run my own consultancy I can assure you I'm hardly ever in.)
FYI it was £85, and I only found out it was no good after I sold it on to someone else after getting a good deal from Trouser on a TSL up and dowpipe. I can't remember the full story but they went to get it fitted and was told they wouldn't fit it because it was the old design and was prone to splitting. I subsequently found out from 'mutual aquantainces' that you already knew that before selling it to me originally.
All of this is besides the point Deep, my main concern here is your ignorant assertions in your first post and the offhand way in which you dismiss something that this community is pretty much built around. I'm not the first to have a problem with your manner (Chuck / Old fart springs to mind immediately) and I'm sure he won't be the last.
Feel free to lock the thread, I'm sure we'll be seeing and hearing a lot more about the T25, which is hopefully more than I can say for Deep.

Oringally posted by deep: Sorry am I missing the point? So if you spend loads of money and stick in a bigger engine and turbo into a Jap car you get a faster Jap car? A faster Jap car that is difficult to insure, will not have gone through rigorous testing of an 'normal' car and hence I'm sure will have some 'issues' like all modded cars do. It will have a dubious warranty, and unknown resale value. It will also still have a Max Power image, with spotty kids giving it a thumbs up as you drive by
I have never really read maxpower, as i have no interest in it, but from the front cover, and the cars I see driving around with the sticker in the window, its' generally much more accessible cars, such as fiesta's, saxo's and renault 5's etc who buy bolt on crap and fit it themselves. I would personally say that Scooby's along with Evo's are out of the max power league and into the big boys league. People that buy both cars, buy a serious performance cars because lets face it (no offence chaps) neither are the prettiest cars around, and max power is as much about skirting boards around the car, and ironing boards on the boot as it is about performance.
People buy scoobies, because they like motorsport, and they want something with rallying heritage, and serious performance without the German / Italian price tag and of course ‘look at me, I am minted’ status symbolism attached.
I have heard of people driving through London in 911 convertibles being spat at, and their cars being keyed parked in the street, so given the choice between the reputation of a power mad Scooby ownwer and a toff porker city boy who gets spat at I know which I would choose..
Back to the topic, I think the T25 Spec looks awesome chaps, and if it was a choice between the WR1 and T25, well there is just no contest.
As for insurance I would imagine the Spec C is not be much more than a heavily modd’ed STI? (If of course people actually admit what they’ve done), as many of the parts are shared with the UK spec STI. The T25 spec I could see being quite expensive just on the basis, that say for example you needed a new engine, they’d have to import it from Japan!
Looks fantastic to me, well done Ian, another fantastic Scooby bought to our shores, can’t wait to see what Evo lads make of it
