Default STI v4 Type R - New owner!!!

Hi all,

I pick up my Type R on Saturday and must say my initial reaction is fantastic!!

Aftr driving Evo's and a WRXs I am suprised and delighted at how this goes. I liked the sounds of Scoobies hence why I've decided to get a range topper bar the Vltds and P1 / 22bs.

This is my first post so can could tell me what potential problem areas I should be looking for / at? and whether you guys have a regular meet. The last time I did any meets was over 3 years and 2 stone ago. Anyways here are some pics. did the last owner ever send a post or pics.

Just to let you know, no.520 will be back on the road sometime next year.

Ended taking the car to a bodyshop and its more than repairable for a fraction of the original quote (10.5k!!!). Its a long story but words like "solicitor" were used. It even got to the stage where my old man phoned up the insurance company and threatened to report the car as stolen when the assessor had it moved to his home town without notification to myself or dad. Lots of dodgy goings on.

Anyway, im looking for a front bumper (without splitter), side skirts and a rear bumper if anyone has spares lying about.

Also, does anyone know if you can get a full carbon fibre 22b spoiler?

Cheers,
Doug.

I know Simon! And whats even better is the cheque from the insurers will cover the cost of repairs plus some spending money for some mods! Trying not to end up with a car thats the double of yours though! Who did you get your mirrors from and how much? Ive sourced a pair for £400......

Car is now a cat d unfortunately. The insurance company thinks it will cost 10.5k to fix going by the garages estimate and assessors opinion. Think they were intent on writing it off and i and others belive it had somebody at the other end with a home for it. Car was taken away down to Galashiels as soon as the assessor had looked at it! (his home town). The guy in the bodyshop looked at it and said it would cost about 1500+vat to sort out the metal work and spraying. BIG difference in estimates! The insurance company does not know about this quote and thats the way i intend to keep it. Im looking at keeping the car and a £7k cheque minimum. Whats that old saying....every cloud has a silver lining.....

And yes, i will be getting new rollers and windows..lol!

Does anyone know what the crack is with the wedges of plastic that fit on the skirts/bumper? Got them on mine but i need new skirts and all the ones ive seen advertised new dont seem to have them. Are they an option or just on certain models/years? See the pic of Simb's for an example....1 on the r/bumper and 1 on the leading edge of the skirt.

They are known as 'splash guards' They fit over the normal sideskirts so no need to worry if you need to change the skirts. Just remove and keep the guards and re-fit to the new skirts.

Cheers, Doug.
Doug. I have set of the splash guard ' end pieces' alone. The side skirts have gone and they were from an earlier car, so not sure if they fit later ones I do have side skirts off a P1, but they don't use the end pieces. Of course, 2 door skirts won't fit a 4 door, should anybody enquire.

Front bumpers are not dear, new from Subaru, which is all I can offer, you can get them as easily as l can and it's a disaster trying to mail order them around the country because of the sheer size of them. We try to encourage buyers to
collect for that reason.

Call me if I can help
