Default Type R problems?

What's the most common fault on the Type R? What's the first major component to fail?

I'd say the the Maf sensor was a likley contender and then if this ain't spotted in time a big end fail or melted piston

Ah well, unfortunately no.520 is a write off. The damage to the floor pan and sills was that bad, the quote for getting it fixed was just over 10k inc vat and labour. So, its time to see how much the insurance company will cough up. They have the v.6 type r listed as having a market value of 11k but i had mine insured for a good bit more. Does that mean that even though i valued the car as being worth more (v.ltd etc...) i'll only get around the 11k mark?

Back from iraq in 6 months so will be on the hunt for a replacement toy. Budget should be between 17-20k and wil be looking for a low mileage, well sorted/looked after v.6 type r. Anyone want to sell their's?.....or should i wait to save up a little more and get the daddy....22B!!!???

(or an evo.... )

Sorry to hear about that mate. The Insurance Company has to pay for you to be able to get an identical car. You would not be able to get a V6 Type-R at that price. Remember you can turn down the Insurance Companies offer if you think you would not be able to get an identical car for that money. Insurance Companies do not know the value of cars like this very well!
I've driven a 22B before. Even though its a 2.2, it didn't feel faster than the Type-R. The clutch in them makes them undrivable through town etc. Its vicious! The flared wheel arches do look good though.
Have fun in the big desert sh*t hole! I know I didn't!

Sorry to hear about this Doug, It should be worth alot more due to the engine etc. I would'nt except their 1st offer and I would start getting some cut out's from Top Marque, Autotrader etc of simular cars to prove its worth more.

Also what Catergory write-off did they class it as A, B, C or D as you may be able to buy it back for a knock down price and fix it yourself. Or even strip it and sell the parts which may be worth more than the whole.
