Hi Y'all,

Not been on for a while - I may come up, not to be R.R.'d (as I've done nowt more nthe last time) but just to meet up and get gassed by atmopspheric destruction from the awesome power of the Spooks-mobile - will the courage be there this time?

Brian.

Pete - I'll possibly need a couple of spaces if you don't mind. I assume it will still be on the 15th? Cost of £30 each?

One for a customers car and one for my brotheres GTiR (pre-modification figure as a starting base).

Let me know.

Pete, can you add me to the list? Did a run at Dastek and will not be changing the spec of the car so would be nice to compare.

Be sure and post up John I did the same with my car and got 282bhp/242lbft at Star and 303bhp/235lbft at Dastek, but intakes were 10 degrees lower at Dastek.

Somewhat inconveniently the more boost I run at Star the less power I get as temps get too high that much sooner

312bhp at Dastek became 279bhp at Star when I put the boost up a little, but temp differences went up to 23degrees.

Better intercooler and WI to follow shortly, maybe then it will hold more than 0.7bar

It did 353 WHP and 402 flywheel, which is a much smaller loss than I think it will be at Star. Torque was 391 lbft.

Temperatures were similar to the road at Dastek, as was detonation.

Thumbs down

Just wondering weather or not to go now or not.

This seem's as if it's going to be a day to try and show Star up now. Well as far as i am concerend Star's figure's have always been on the button.

Maybe the new roller's @ Dastek read high like some of the one's down South that are well known for this.

I'm still taking Star as my benchmark for rollers, that is why I want to run there, I've got stuff from before I can compare it with.

Don't know if Dastek are higher or not for Scoobies, the wheel power was higher than expected, the flywheel power was lower.

Unfortunately I have already changed the spec, so it won't be a comparison now anyway.

John, is u r membership still up2 d8 ?

Running order list to be compiled and posted up by mid week
We may end up having to run multiple days as per last year.

Looks like BR2 won`t be running due to a couple of minor set-backs
encountered recently

No it's slipped Pete. Does that mean I'm not on? If not doesn't matter, going to Prosport at end of Feb anyway if you need the spaces for others.

dougie,

I agree about star's figures. they always seem realistic for the given mods despite what some say are conservative. thinking about it , the only car I have ever really wondered about was harvey's 377bhp from a vf28 but given that his results are always higher than expected, I put this down to him always getting the best out his set-up(s). he seems untouchable at the shootout days and it will be very interesting to see how some of these big cc builds, do against him on the same day at prosport.

the main thing I do like about dastek though is the cooling. granted I have never seen a tmic car run but the power of the fans is something else. the run seemed no harder on the car than a run through the gear on the road. perhaps the difference in technique is as much a factor here , the car was held at a guess of 2500/3000rpm to bring the inlet temp down before the run started.I also felt the torque curve was how it felt on the road.

IMO, star will always be the benchmark for our figures. it has always been consistent enough to quote roughly what a car would do.

the test for me will be when you get the likes of SG72(20g sti5 8k rpm),alang(20g UK 7k rpm) and john banks(20g USsti 7k rpm) all on the rollers on the same day. I do not think there will be much in the bhp figures of the 3 cars , which is when the shape of the curves will really show the difference between the set-ups , which may suit the dastek rollers more but we will have to see.

I see no reason why both places cannot be used though. I do not care if one set read higher than the other.

John (Tuk)

How can you compair the 3 car's when they are totally diffrent car's/engine's and they run diffrent fuel or additivies?

all the cars share similar mods and the same turbo , so it is interesting to me to find where each set-up peaks and how the curves look. the turbo does not know what engine it is bolted to , so the differences come from heads/cams/block size etc, IMO at this level.

alang has done a fabulous job getting what he has out a UK but it peaks very close to the redline compared to SG72's car , which although having lower peak figures , leads to a more flexible car IMO.

fuel differences may help but I do not really care for peak figures that much anyway. they are a rough guide but curves make how a car feels.

I agree Dougie, my target bhp figures are based on the fly figures achieved at Star (much to the annoyance of my engine builder ) and I will keep going back, and one day I will make them

The only 2 problems at Star are the erratic at the wheel figures, and the cooling, it's not that the cooling is bad, just Dasteks is better and when you are not running a FMIC it makes a difference. My car will pull over 140mph in 4th, doing the run at Star the most powerful fan is blowing at 80mph, so it is no surprise temps skyrocket at high rpm.

Waiting patiently for info on how everyone got on...

Default sidc membership

pete,

how much cheaper is the run to sidc members?

was going up to spectate but would consider throwing my shed on the rollers if there was space.

will you have membership forms on the day?

T-Uk, I will have membership forms with me.

Zeolite, usually 9am onwards. I think there will be a meet at Forth Rd Mcdonalds @ approx 8am b4 we head on up.

Pete, I'm off the list as radiator isn't in as yet.

Dougster the modder(ator)

What's the script with the radiator??
Is it fitting that's the problem or do you not have one to go in?

There's a place in Glasgow which recons radiators cheap if you need one.

This has been going on for a while now has it not?

cheers dougster,

do you know the membership price for the run at star?, if it was say £20 for members, then it is worthwhile for me.I think prosport take £25 to non members and I think dastek are going to be the same but possibly offer a sidc rate too. when I was in the sidc before it was for the discount at k/hill more than anything but I doubt I will be tracking much again this year.

also try andyf for a radiator. he had a rad out another subaru and since subaru like to keep as many bits between one model and the next it may fit.
