Steve`s car broke down. Bless Him. He was probably trying to keep up with the Sti8 rocket that Paul now owns. Hey Paul fancy a rolling road day Mate? If you need a good bodyshop to get the bonnet scoop removed or reduced in size. Then give me a shout mate. Have you had a go at the ALS yet have you had any exgaust flash.

ALS has still got to be better than a flamer kit LOL.

Unfortunately Steve was alot quicker than expected, so I never got to meet him. By the time I arrived, the the car was ready and waiting.
Still need to phone Steve over a few things, will report back later.

Havent had the car r.r. but does feel faster. Lots of popping/banging! My car is running more bar boost that i previously thought Seriously though, car feels mmuuucchh smoother on acceleration, and as for the diff controller
Makes a HUGE difference, especially in the p#ssing rain, which we had on the day!
Early days, and have my 1st track day in 3 weeks, but so far

How about everyone else?

Had my car done nearly 2 weeks ago and still happy acceleration feels very smooth and car feels quicker, running about 1.45bar boost which was more than previously, Miss Scooby Sti did you get the active diff fitted and is it worth the money, was going to get it done at the same time but lack of cash, somethink to maybe have done next.

Is everyone else happy after having the Gems fitted, Steve got a bit of a slating in another thread on who's the best remapper , is there something we should all know?

Hi Rayman.

I have a feeling that the group buy price will be closed. Altho i will ask Steve if he can squeeze you into the deal altho I know he will need a 50percent deposit as quick as you can. Steve is in Isle of Man until monday so decide over weekend then i will ask him.

So am i right in thinking you want two GEMS ECU with mapping? From what I understand it will give you two fuel maps (say an optimax map and a unleaded map.) It might be able to run two maps one with optimax and one with water injection if so I will let you know on Monday mate.

question - the guys who got the ALK fitted. I gather its selectable - do you have a switch or something to turn it on and off.

Anyone got a vid of popping and banging "road use" imprezas?

Steve fits a switch in the centre console, so you can turn it off & on.
Very discreet too...just dont tell the missus to flick it when she's at Tesco !!!

NESCOOB1, sorry never replied sooner. Reading back, I've got the same as you then - V4 Type R. I'm running 1.4 bar boost, which was more than previously also, so must be pretty similar!
I did get the active diff fitted, and yes it was worth it.
Sell anything you need to to raise the cash, and get it fitted would be my advice!!
Have 3 pre-set programs, which you turn a switch to change between, plus ur open lock and 2 or 3 (cant remember!) of ur old wheel settings. Switch is much easier+better to use, and as you accelerate you can really feel the difference in grip (and the lights move up and down the display on the dash too ). You can feel the difference on all the settings but, as I said, noticed the biggest difference on the "wet" setting. Corners which we drove thru earlier which I had to back off for, I could now accelerate thru!!! (and not end up sliding/in a field/180 degrees/etc) and u'll know how difficult that is in the wet previously!! Also much easier to drive on the preset program as you dont have to adjust the (diff) wheel as ur driving - GEMS does it all for ya!

Let me know what u decide, cheers. Oh and happy playing

edited to say: - I also got told that the anti-lad switch was for "very occasional use only". Havent tried it since - jump 20ft in the air with a scream tho when we tested it on the day!

Hi Rayman. Unfortunately The Group Buy is closed altho if you can order to and supply me with which model Cars they would be fore Steve mentioned he could probably knock off about £100 per ecu. Let me know.

So Jaquie you jumping in the air and screaming. Glad you weren`t indoors you would of banged your head on the ceiling. Well less than a week for my fitment of active diff and ecu. Woohoo. Just in time for summer with dry roads. LOL

Sorry, didnt mean it like that, makes me sound like a right madwoman! What I meant was when the ALS went BANG, BANG BANG POP I got such a fright that I literally jump 20ft in the air! ..........although I did jump and give a wee scream, lol.

You'll notice the difference even on the dry with the active diff, it's just more profound in the wet!
Good luck

edited to say: Jacqui not Jaquie

two 95 ECU`s would work out at £1395.00 plus VAT each mate. Fully fitted and mapped.

Sorry Jacqui got a uncontrollable dyslexia habit.

Well got mine mapped and its fantastic. Needs mapping again when I finally get the right turbo for the car. Was a real pitty that the previous owner had fitted a TD04 and it was a really warm day when we mapped it. Have spoke to Steve and he is more than happy to come back up and sort it when we get a colder day. Top quality servcie a real nice guy and many thanks to everyone who participated and a very big thanks to GEMS and Steve Simpson.

P.S. The active Diff is great cant wait for some wet weather now. Roll on Winter LOL.

Yup.. must admit the 'anti-tailgating' switch works a treat!

Only today some **** in a Audi TT decided to try and get a free lift by getting in the boot....
Just lift off slightly, flick the ALS switch... see the startled rabbit look in the rear view mirror...
For some strange reason he kept his distance from then on!

Gooing to get the active diff done now I've found some money under my bed

Has anyone else changed the suspension setup for anything other than coilovers, if so what did you go for, does it drop the ride height and has it affected the ride any?

Sorry to hijack the thread.
