Hi All

I am new to this board. I have recently purchased an Impreza turbo MY 00 in Trinidad.

I was wondering whether anyone has been able to evaluate the Prodrive PPP minus the ECU? If so, can you tell me what one can expect?

Also, (I know that this may be an old topic but) can anyone suggest whether I should go with a K&N panel filter or a Blitz intake or just leave the stock intake filter?

Thanks

Hey, no point in having a PPP without the ECU, you'll hardly gain anything.

If you dont have a remapped ECU then an ITG panel filter will be fine.

If you want to free up the breathing, youre better off with a scoobysport exhaust or the like. I certainly noticed gains when i went from the PPP system to a SS back box and magnex decatt centre. A peformance downpipe helps a lot too

Cool

Thanks for the good advice....

I must admit that I am a bit disappointed to hear that the Prodrive rear box and mid section are not as good as the SS equivalent...

Did you use the full PPP?

When you switched to the SS and Magnex mid box did you keep the Prodrive ECU?

Thanks again

Cool

I'd like to know if a PPP ECU would work with an SS exhaust...

I'd like to get a little more oompfh, and the "ease" of the PPP ecu makes it a tempting choice...

But then again I'd prolly be better off with a mappable ecut.

I am running a PPP with Scoobysport downpipe,
custom mid section [from Scoobysport] and HKS Super Drager back box.
Absolutely superb.
I was running a complete HKS system but was forced to change my HKS Downpipe and centre section. The HKS system was great, I had no problems with it at all.
However, the downpipe has the wastegate blocked whereas the SS downpipe allows the wastegate gasses to flow through also.
The difference betweent the two is amazing.
I'm popping and flaming [albeit little ones]
whenever the car warms up now.
The turbo is also more audible and the wastegate too.
Having said that, I do like the look of the BPM and Scoobymania downpipes. They completely seperate the wastegate flow.
It would be interesting to see how these perform also.

Oh yeah.
Downpipe is 2.5inch.
Centre is 3inch.
Backbox houses a family of field mice

Question

I agree that it is ideal to have the remapped ECU to complete the PPP. However, surely there must be some gains to be had by freeing up the back box and mid box??

Any comments Mike Wood?

Dave, i just got in after leaving your gaff at 3am

Diablo, are you really living in a *****, surely that is the wettest place on earth???

Back to the question in hand, I ran the PPP ECU as follows, and only changed one exhaust part at a time to gauge(sp?) the individual contributions.

1) PPP ECU, standard DP, Prodrive centre and rear box

2) PPP ECU, SS DP and prodrive centre and rear box

3) PPP ECU, SS DP, SS Back Box and Prodrive centre

4) PPP ECU, SS DP, SS Back Box, magnex decatt centre

Every time i changed a bit, the car definetely felt faster but the downpipe made the single biggest contribution, it just span up so quick

Well, its hard to tell as i put the downpipe on before the new rear and centre boxes, so whilst each change did give an improvement, its difficult to know exactly how much of the improvement is split by

1) What you just added
2) What you did before that adds a halo to what u just did.

Anyhow, i think you will be very pleased with the PPP and SS Downpipe. Made a hell of a difference to mine.

Even other owners who dont have even the PPP rave about it, also those who change from other manufacturers downpipes report improvements.

The ECU just allows a higher state of tune so you get more out of what you do to the rest of the car.

Enjoy!

When you ran the full PPP with the SS down pipe was the performance much different from ths SS rear box and Magnex centre pipe?

In other words will I be pleased with the PPP and a SS down pipe?

thanks

Well you wont beat them with a PPP minus the ECU!

Why dont you want the ECU?

What do you mean u overran the gears?, perhaps you ought to change up a bit earlier

Sorry - I forgot - Surrey's contribution to English culture - CROYDON

Cambridgeshire's contribution - Cambridge University.

What driving roads have you got - ah yes the Croydon ring road.

What have we got - ah yes hundreds of miles of relatively traffic free great driving roads.

I suppose the real reason you can't come all the way to Cambridgeshire is because you can't get a long enough extension lead for your PC to reach here.
