Jules: presumably you mean locking exposure on the darkest part of the scene, to ensure that the rest of the image gets brighter?

Night exposures are tricky, no doubt about it. They also represent one area in which having the right equipment plays a large part in getting the results you're after. I normally give up on the meter, go straight for full manual mode and take some test frames to get the exposure correct.

Cookie: a suggestion, why not have two polls on your site - one for photos taken prior to the competition being announced, and another for photos taken especially for the competition? I think it's fairly obvious which ones belong in which poll.

Is it just me me or is dba leading with pictures he clearly states aren't his entry?
