Probably have heard it, just didn't pay any attention to it. Just not my taste in music. Same as rap - I hear lots of it on TV, radio etc., but I couldn't say if I'd heard any famous tracks amongst it.

LMFAO Just trying to lighten it up a bit
I have a varied taste in music too. I have been known to listen to quite a few operatic pieces, not just punk rock or cheesy pop.
But DIDO My cat sounds better than her! (And yes, it also sounds better than me!)

All Faithless stuff sounds the same to me.........as for your comments on Insomnia-that's exactly what I mean by later stuff,(and what came after it).
.......and Jyem no one compared Air to Faithless- at least I didn't, totally different stuff also I reckon I've probably got the best "rave on" credentials of anyone on the board-not that it's anything to boast about............I was there back in the day when the scene was underground and tablets cost £20 a go-LOL
.........E Claire-I love all that stuff too, except maybe the White Stripes as I've only heard a few of their tracks
........and I have to agree with Duck Ponds list, except of course Boner and his gang of fcukwits and REM.

Face it, Dido is the Enya of the new millenium. Between her and old wobbly head David Gray you could put yourself into a coma for years.
I always thought Daft Punk were better than Air, personally, but I like them both.

Common.
I like Air but how do they differ from Dido (from a middle-of-the-road point of view). If you're going to get down on music for being middle-of-the-road then at least find a band that doesn't sit right there in the middle of the 'mass appeal almost lounge' scene.

Agree Daft Punk are pretty damn good I forgot to add Monsieurs Bangalter and Homem Christo- I like most stuff on Roule.
edited to add: The adoption of Air by the middle of the road brigade in no way detracts from the highly original production values of their music, something that cannot be said of Dido. Look at the Beatles, all sorts of people like them and they could be said to be middle-of-the-road, they were however highly creative and original, almost exactly unlike Dido.

There’s nothing wrong with middle of the road music, so long as it’s good. As a ferinstance, Britney’s done some absolute crap, but she’s also done a couple of genuinely classic singalong pop moments, Stronger being one of them. And although people may knock Shania Twain (rightly) for wasting most of her talent on mediocre stuff, you should see her perform – one hell of a show, and no-one goes home feeling cheated.
Unlike Dido, who leave no emotion behind other than “oh, the CD’s finished”. Some records are great background musis, but to aspire to that seems an awfully low objective to set oneself.

As if Dido had that as an aspiration...
Jeez, what is it with you guys? She's sold over ONE MILLION copies of the second album ALONE!!! So what, *everybody* is wrong except the learned musical critics on here??!!
She's popular - deal with it!!

McDonalds sell millions of burgers. By your logic that must be really good food.
***** sells a million because her industry marketing machine tells people to buy it. Same will Gates, Young, Girls Aloud and all the rest of the rubbish.
In fact, recently both these marketing machines combined to produce.... The Fast Food Rockers. mmm... now there's a quality act.

But Dido *will* sell her third album in vast quantities.
Will Young *will* sell his second album in vast quantities.
Sure, there will be fads, there always have been, there always will be, but some of the artists being criticised here are entertaining an awful lot of people, with no nutritional drawbacks! And that's surely a good thing?

Hmm... the thing is, I see it as millions of people being exploited by the likes of Waterman and Co. Just a difference in perception I guess. The problem is that once the stoopids have spent their money on rubbish and all the disposable income has been hoovered up by the marketing giants there is nothing left for the really talented but less exposed artists out there.

Well I think she has a decent voice and the new album is okay, not brilliant but there's not many albums that are.
People that slate musicians because they don't happen to like a particular artist make me laugh. I'm sure if you listed the bands you happened to like, plenty of people would roll around laughing saying how they couldn't sing either.
Come on then, for all you lot that don't like Dido's style of music, lets hear what crap you're into then!

Shes alright, I mean, in small doses for 'bird who has been dumped music its ok', sort of a musical Bridget Jones, get a bottle of wine in, put 'No Angel' on and mope about lost love, thats its purpose, for miserable women !
Must admit when I borrow the wifes car it takes me three or four tracks to realise whats annoying me and turn it off, she sounds like shes singing her heart out and genuine, so manufactured or not she does strike a chord with a lot of people, I quite like McDonalds food in moderation (when there is no Foie-Gras or Truffles in) so Dido should be taken the same way.
Most of the RnB is manufactured in the same way but with an additional scoop of MotherF*c*as throw into the mix, suitably bleeped outso my eight year old asks me what it should have been, how do they get away with that, let me know or I will put a cap in yo ***, biatch.
As for middle of the road, that Gary Jules ? version of Mad World by Tears For Fears is Middle of the road but absolutely beautiful at the same time.
And yes, I would, mmmm Dido, sounds a bit like *****.

Radiohead - I might be Wrong (live album)
OK, it's depressing and no where near as good as their earlier stuff, but it ain't middle of the road. Some nice soundscapes in there too.
Supergrass - In it for the money
Cheeky rock-based pop with a bit of an edge
Blur - Thinktank
Typical Blur, eclectic and a bit hit and miss but some excellent moments
Dandy Warhols - Come Down
Good chilling music to enjoy with a few smokes, easy to listen to with a few intersting twists
The Human League - The very best of
I have never seen this CD before in my life, so can't really comment, although it has a bonus CD with some remixes on it that might be interesting
Feeder - Comfort in Sound
Loved this when I first bought it, now I think it sounds a bit dull, although I'm going watching them live next month
KLF - The White Room
Needs no introduction, possibly the finest album ever
The Darkness - Permission to Land
Oh come on, they make me smile. Falsetto rock at it's best
Weezer - Weezer
A bit like Feeder, thought this was good when I bought it, can get a bit samey, though. Some good guitar sounds.
Doves - The Last Broadcast
Doves are excellent, although the second album is slightly better, some really good atmosphere.
White Stripes - Elephant
Stripped down, basic, bluesy, rocky, harsh, unpolished, whats not to love?
Foo Fighters - One By One
Good healthy rock, cleans the dust off the speakers nicely

Her looks are quite boring, atractive, but dull, lacking in character, almost manufactured for the masses.
She even looks like lulu in that picture, bottom right, pre all the plastic surgery.
Her music, good in elevators.

KLF White Room is the bomb- Space is pretty good too if you have the sound system to do it justice.
The Pure Trance remixes of their hit records are all time classics.
Burn a million anyone?
