The steel pipe is zinc plated and cannot be polished. You could get it chrome plated but that is a hassle and serves little purpose. When Mr. Chan talked about unpolished he was NOT referring to the pipes just the I/C core if you wanted to paint it black. I was surprised however that the design and material had changed and we did not know.
Reading between the lines, I expect they ran into problems with the copper pipes being close to the turbo. Heat, expansion and contraction and at the very least, the chrome surface separating from the copper substrate.
The fuel pump price is so good on the clicky already posted that those wanting pumps can buy individually direct from the U.S.
Best to fit an FPR at the same time so what is the best price and source for these. I expect that cracking prices are available from the U.S. for both the FSE or alternative and the SX which is made there anyway. As a guide Alyn at AS Performance (0191 410 3770) will do the regulator, fitting kit and guage for £95 posted.(FSE). If you do not want the guage it is less around £15. Just say you are part of Harvey's group buy and he will supply you. He takes credit cards but if someone has a cheaper source from the U.S. post it on here. Remember the possibility of getting charged VAT and duty.
Now if you change your pump and regulator and fit the front mount, at the very least you need to have your AFR checked and there may be some gains from a remap depending on what else has changed and what ECU you are running.
A fuel pump is an insurance policy, especially on older cars that have seen a lot of service as the old pump gets tired but I stayed with my original pump until around 340bhp and because the car was relatively new a regulator (SX) was not fitted until over 400 bhp.

Cheers Harvey -
I'll speak to Alyn this week, can confirm that on the older cars the pump gets weaker (hence my need for a replacement at 100,00 miles).
Looking forward to seeing the fitment guides on the FMIC's, as I'm holding back on ordering one until someone takes the plunge first

Any idea when you're likely to try and fit your FMIC ?
Mines in the UK and just waiting local delivery.
I would appreciate first hand advice on fitting from anybody on here. I do have the PDF file from Hybrid with the limited fitting instructions.

Franko -
ECU is located under the front passengers footwell : you need to pull back the carpet in the footwell (may need to remove a few clips etc), you'll see it bolted on the floorpan under the carpet.
Fuel pump, only way would be to examine it against an original.

Gameman, I'm doing the same thing, waiting to see the fitment of the kits before purchasing one myself! Maybe there's another group buy in here somewhere! Ps, anyone want to pull out and sell their kit yet? LOL

Any one point me in the direction of the SX regulator supplier
Pump works out about £55 + P/P and tax maybe, still gonna be a good price .
FMIC is on its way
Any one doing a group buy on the pump or regulator ?

SX Regulator from Roger Clark Motorsport but not cheap but it is a class piece of kit. They are manufactured in the States and it would be much cheaper if you could import direct from a supplier over there. You could try one of the BBS`s like IClub or Nasioc or something, maybe somebody could post links.
Mark : Depending what happens over the next couple of days I might look at the intercooler this weekend. I had a look at it earlier today and just wondered if it would be possible to fit it upside down to reduce the pipe lengths. Just an idle thought.
Franko : When you get the ECU cover off in the passanger footwell you take the next cover off to expose a printed circuit board. See if there are any reference numbers, manufacturers names or if any blocks have been inserted on the top of the PCB eg. Link, Superchip, etc.
Regards the fuel pump this is in the tank through an inspection hatch on a bracket with the fuel level float. Be careful how you take it out. If you phone me daylight hours I will try and find a standard pump and tell you what the letters on it say. The uprated pumps, from memory have Walbro 341 engraved on the steel body and a larger diameter.

Not sure mate.
I paid mine on monday, and havn't heard anything yet.
Just a thought mate...But when are you fitting yours ?
I'm in Edinburgh too, if you wanted to meet up, we could do them at the same time.

Gentlemen: Communication has been a bit of a problem through out and I think the best way is just to repeat your e-mail after 48hrs and adding that it is a copy as you have not yet had a response. Also remember that H.K has a time difference of 8hrs ahead of us, I am informed by Mark, who had his payment screwed up by his bank. I do not think it is a co-incidence that we both use the same bank. I think the International Division of Barclays is incompetant. Pitty as the local area service is exemplary.

Dont worry mate.
It took about 5 days for it to appear on my statement.
Just keep checking.
I had to view more recent history, in my online statement to find it. It wasnt in my monthly one.
I'm with Egg.
Hope this helps

Hi Richard; No probs on time limit with Mr. Chan.
Hope you get P.P. sorted soon.
If you need help on that phone here tonight around 20:00 + til 22:30.
I had already found the brand of fuel you are using to be noticably worse than some other super fuel brands eg Esso and B.P., when used in either of my two Scoobies. Their 95 seems OK used in Astra 16v GTE and so on however.
I guess you need to keep a supply of Optimax in a Jerry can etc in your garage and get mates to fill them when they are off the island and only use the Optimax for "performance work".

Thanks Harvey,
if i need to phone i will mate. Glad to hear Mr Chan is flexible .
regards optimax - i wish we had shell here on the island .
its such a blag!
the previous SUL garage, Fairlee was National, which i gather are BP in the rural areas. when they packed up, harwoods which is a texaco garage said they would take on the SUL pump. whether this means that the garage took on texaco SUL, or simply took on the existing supply from Fairlee, which was National/BP SUL i do not know?
presumably as they are Texaco, Texaco would not allow them to run with BP?

Just a bit of info for people that are kicking themselves that they missed out on this group buy:
I decided to e-mail Mr Chan (hybridhk@netvigator.com ... this is the correct e-mail isn't it) because some people hadn't paid in full yet etc so i thought he might accept another order if i said i'd paypal the money immediately. He has agreed to this . Im just waiting for him to get back to me with his paypal details (can somebody from the orginal buy e-mail me these details so i can check they are the same).
It is $608 unpolished isn't it? Anybody got any pics of the unpolished kit yet?
Cheers,
Tony.

James : Mine is `95 also with 90 deg. bend so give me ten days or so and I will tell you what I have done.
Tony : Nice one. Everybody else pays a deposit and goes through the rigmarole and you jump on at the back.
I already posted I would organise another group buy.
