I did a Bank Transfer when I bought my discs from Ian. A whole lot simpler and Ian could send me the parts immediately. I hate waiting for cheques to clear

Ok help please. I have a 99 estate (wagon if you like) with a standard set up on the rear brake dept. Will these disc's bolt straight on? What are 'bells'? Do I need them? Any info much appreciated, sorry I'm a novice compared to you lot. If they will bolt straight on & I don't need any extras I will have a pair of grooved & vented rears. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, the rear brake setuo on a MY99 wagon is the exact same as a MY99 saloon (I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong).

If so, then the discs on the first page will be a straight swap. I've put pics of my install here.

Bells are more appropriate on the front discs. Rather than having a single cast/machined disc (which includes the actual braking surface and the hub), the discs are split into a seperate alloy bell (the hub) and the outer disc. The benefits are better heat transfer (so the hub doesn't heat up) and it's a darn sight cheaper when you need to replace the disc (since it's a lot less material for someone to make).

You can see in this picture the grooved disc surface and the nice shiney alloy bell in the middle.

If the rear disks will fit my car, then put me down for a set (no pads). I will have the vented and grooved disks.
Let me know when to send the payment to Godspeed.

Markehb , Yes if you have the subaru 4 pot calipers fitted as standard then the 294mm discs will fit straight on ,

Kev , The only large rear kit we make is a 325mm kit , we do not make a 300mm kit for the subaru as the handbrake system makes it impossible , the 325mm kit is £595..

Kady555 , Yes the discs will fit your car , your should have vented discs on there

Cheers Ian

I'm interested in getting front and rear, but not sure about the whole grooved/drilled thing. As I have solid rear discs, I have been advised to have drilled on the back as they will aid with cooling. Is it worth having grooves as well? I am not planning any track days, so is it better to stick to grooved on front, or go for both there too? any advice greatlyfully received, then I can get my order in before the deadline

drilled do aid cooling, but unless you do track days I can't see you hammering the rear brakes enough to justify needing extra cooling.

drilled discs are more prone to developing hairline cracks around the holes.

To be honest most people get drilled for the looks more than anything else.

Question

Ian
I dont quite understand your last regarding the large rear discs,
My car can handle 325mm discs, yet you can't fit 300mm discs, why is that then? I would have thought the larger you go the more difficult it would be???
Cheers Kevin.

The front pads will be the same price as the rears , match the make and price ,

Kevin , the handbrake has shoes that fit into the middle of the disc , our bells have to be made to same shape and size for the handbrake to still work , the bells are not suitable for the 300mm discs , but do work with the 325mm ones

Thanks Ian for the explanation, totally understand, the price you quoted earlier in the thread is the same as is on your website, I was hoping for a slightly cheaper price due to this group buy
If I have to go for the 325mm, any chance
