Another excellent run out. Steve and Abby: You two need to enhance your cornering techniques, ie learn to take them faster!!!
Well organised as ever by John and it was good to catch up with some old faces and meet some new ones.
PS. Does anyone know what blackmail info Abby has on Ian at Palmers? I mean, would YOU lend him ANY car, never mind an STi8 PPP!!??

LOL...Ian has got the car back in one piece but who's going to buy it when it is eventually for sale .
On a more serious note, thanks for the advice re quickshift but what were your brakes like today ?? Do you have a standard bugeye setup like mine ?? With all those corners and with 4 people in the car I couldn't tell if the ABS was cutting in or not. I'm a sedate driver with the kids in but wondered if you had a problem with the ABS kicking in early ??
Cheers

Well I don't think I'll be doing that drive everyday
There is an update to the .asp script I'm using which includes a "next" and a "previous" button to allow for scrolling through the images but I will probably update it all next weekend...no I won't I'll be busy doing something else

hope the lady in the blue scoob has calmed down with her driver, i mean he didnt lie we only did a gentle drive in the country.
Girlfriend used to complain of not being able to move much in the seats, now she's asking for a fitted seat and rally harness
Before we went, I thought I'd be ashamed 'cos I've only got a standard spoiler, turned out I was ashamed 'cos I was probably the only one there with a standard exhaust! Better get the brakes upgraded for next time too.
Great day out, although next time I'll be on my own methinks...

I did notice the brakes not being as responsive as they normally are after a "spirited" run - due new pads soon anyway but think a set of ventilated discs will be appearing also! A set of 330mm discs would be nice but don't think I can stretch that far yet!
Girlfriend quite enjoyed it to be honest, she was only a bit worried at the first stop as she assumed it was a bit of a free-for-all in the overtaking stakes, once she found out overtaking didn't happen so often she was OK - she (and I!) was also a bit happier that I wasn't the only one who bottomed out over that hump backed bridge!

finally sorted out hosting my pictures of the weekend raid today, video to follow!
I had planned to come up on the raid not long after lordharding anounced it, and andy_s said he was up for it too. So we got ourselves booked into the lovely guest house of lordhardings mum! Well recommended by the way .
Unfortunatly, due to some unforseen family commitments, andy_s had to bow out at the last minute, but was replaced almost immediatly with blitzboy1!
Missyc was umming and ahhring about whether to come along also, but didn't take much persuasion to come up with myself and blitz on saturday, and fortunatly brought her toothbrush and pj's as she stayed all weekend!
We headed off saturday morning to drive some great roads that missyc knew about in yorkshire, most notable of these were the roads around ribbledale, where we stopped for a photo at the famous viaduct:
It was then on to the road up and over Tan Hill, which apparently is the highest pub in England (and I thought it was the Cat & Fiddle near Buxton!)
This particular stretch of tarmac was fantastic, and on a number of occasions I was well airborne over the jumps!
After a brief stop at the Rose & Crown near Leyburn, where the bartender looked just like Rik Mayall , it was off to Brampton to find the B&B for the night, meet up with lordharding for a drink, and wait for supertouring to join us.
Sunday dawned bright and a little overcast, but we were assured by Mrs Harding that the day was going to be fine, and she wasn't wrong.
After a quick pitstop in Brampton town centre to get some cash, where we happened to park next to a lovely yellow ford escort!
we were met by lordharding and missyc who convoyed over to the meet at the holiday inn at Carlisle.
And what a turnout already:
and thats before the Tyne Tees lot joined us.
The route was handed out, lots of pictures were taken, and people saying hello to complete strangers! all part of the scoobynet experience
and then it was off..............with the first stop at Lockerbie for anyone wanting to fill up with the gold stuff!
this was then followed by some fantastic roads with a couple of stops along the way to regroup, and use the toilet facilities kindly provided by lordharding in a quarry...
Followd by yet more cracking roads to the BIG stop at Kielder visitors centre.
where we were met by the tyne tees scoobys.
After we left there, it was a bit of a mad scramble to find the right route to the restaurant for dinner, and I ended up following a silver scooby up into the moors, who I soon realised wasn't actually part of the run out! I stopped and checked the route, lucky I'd got one, and corrected my little mistake, and made it to Billingham for lunch
And what a gorgeous meal it was too, great choice lordharding.
after a long chat with everyone on our table, who is this by the way?
it was time to head for home. Big thanks to the guy who led us to Hexham shell station, then showed us the right road to get a last blast of Yorkshire fun in.
We then got lost around Brough, trying to find Tan Hill again, so headed back for the M6 to make a quick escape home.
I wont mention supertourings excellent GPS navigation aid that sent us NORTH instead of SOUTH on the M6!!!!!
As I said previously, there was some roadworks on the M6 and the M60, so I ended up getting in around 18:30, tired, bleary eyed, but well happy I had made the effort to go.
A great trip out, 530 miles of great roads (except the M6 M60 bit) and a great weekend of meeting people, thanks everyone for making us southern scooby owners welcome.
I think next year, there may be more of us coming up
chris
