POSSUM LINK ECU
#31
Seraph,
Thanks for the report. Seems the PossumLink is expiriencing the same kind of idle problems as their other product: MiataLink. Unfortunately I have no definitive solution for the idling problems you describe.
Many variables cause the idle surge. Since I have the MiataLink on my MX-5 and are expirienceing light idle surge I have allways looked at idle when sitting in the Scoob. And yes, even with the stock ECU I can see idle surge!
The LINK ECU reacts very strongly if not grounded properly. Make sure all the grounds (ECU and Lamba sensor) are ok for the clearest signal to the ECU.
If you have the handheld controller, look if the ECU is constantly switching fuel zones. Try to set these manually to a rate that they are not switching constantly. I took me quite a while to understand how the ECU worked (and I really still do not know everything). To get idle a bit more steady I let the car auto tune and than looked at the setting for zone 100,105,110 and 200,205,210. Since the ECU always interpolate for the best setting I found that I got the best result if the fuelzone values weren't that much apart.
Anither trick I did was to enrichen the target value for idle: Z26 set to 80. Idle got more steady through this.
As for stalling on a hot start, I know that some MX-5 owners suffer from this. I'll ask around for the fix.
And guys in my last post I wasn't joking about ECU software updates. At least once a year I get a new chip that should address some of these problems. And I know that in the US there is some guy working on the software (together with link) to cure all these kind of problems. Since there is a big testingbase it's a great way to improve the product. Once it's ready to go into operation I will get the newest software. Bob at Link (in New Zealand) told me that all improvements to any kind of Link ECU would also be incorperated in other Link ECU's.
On request they are now even working on laptop programming for the link ECU.
