From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
both pipes go silly ways.. compressor outlet could at least come straight under it.. depending on alternator position

Centre piece wont turn round because its not symetrical, Would be easy to fabricate a new ctre piece though, the turbo thats on there is not there latest rotated mount DR version which does go under the manifold. Good to see however the intercooler feed pipe doesnt now take the inner wing route and try and pop your headlight out like mine does.
Does it have throttle bodies?

Just like Jun, they are still doing the plenums wrong and phasing the pulses unevenly. It should be 1&2 and 3&4 that are paired up as they are 360 crank degrees apart and will not interfere with each othes pulse shockwaves, look at the way the spec 'C' splits the exhaust pulses.....similar logic applies......all IMHO of course !

What it will do though is distribute charge alot more evenly than the spider leg OEM manifold IMHO.
Apparently not available in production for another 9 months.....

Update, not much happening just yet but....
Throttle bodies have arrived.
Adapter plates to mount throttle bodies in development.
New means of Forced Induction sourced.
Finished the book I was reading and now I'm in a better position to calculate...
Optimal Exhaust Header Lengths
Optimal Inlet Tract Length
Dry build of short motor commencing this week hopefully

Paul, yes the green book, read it from cover to cover, learnt alot I think
David, will need hoses at some point, turbo oil feeds, new fuel lines etc. Bit too far in the distance at the moment though. Will bear it in mind.
Do you think it will look stupid with the plenums stuck out of the bonnet? LoL

Conrad,
You want to get yourself a new age car, they have lots more room under the bonnet, there was a nice sti 8 in the for sale section a while ago
Green book is good, but I would say some of the recommendations are very conservative, the blue book is also very good, as is the purple one if you're into 2 strokes.

OK, Thought I'd update the thread a little.....
Big Engine is currently being built (At Last
), The STi 8 has gone
and made way for a nice family vehicle. Now thats sorted out I needed a project car to fit the engine in....managed to buy myself a reasonably priced MY96 WRX wagon.
Here its is before I started working on it.

And Another...

And Another...

And Another...

While thats been happening I've been buying the rest of the parts required, first things first I want to convert the front end to the facelifted model so I have been buying bumpers, crystal lights, crystal sidelights, wrc style grille and crystal indicators
Pictures of these parts later. When fitted and after the paintwork
In the mean time heres a few more of the ancillary parts
Rotated Mount Garrett Turbo Downpipe, clears 6 speed box, and 4" spun trumpet and K&N filter

Turbosmart Blow Off Valve and One Pair Of My Throttle Bodies And Linkages

Slip Jointed Up Pipe For Garrett Turbo (Rotated Mount) and Helix Catch Can

Specially Machined Crank Pickup Wheel To Suit DTA ECU and Four STi New age 500cc Injectors. Car will also run 4 further 650cc Injectors, picture to follow.

Air Injectors which Control the External Wastegate ala WRC cars
, SX fuel reg to the right.

Gruppe-S Headers With Modified (read flat) flange, wrapped and ready to go!

Turbosmart External Wastegate - 42mm

Two Bosch Fuel Pumps and Kevlar Timing Belt

Intercooler And Radiator

Intercooler And Radiator From Another Angle

Paddle Clutch - Specially Made to handle The Power

Clutch Cover

Garrett GT Based Turbo

Thats all for now people.......

I hope so, the next size compressor cover wont fit under the bonnet...LOL
Not to worry, the 150 shot of NOS will add any extra power required

As much as the turbo will give
Then the NOS goes in!Lag
There aint no lag when you drop a paddle clutch at 8000 rpm
UPDATE
Engine is out of the wagon and SOLD, Gearbox has been removed but has not been sold as of yet.
This week......
1. 6 Speed Gearbox is being fitted
2. Paddle clutch is being fitted
3. Propshaft is being shortened 60mm.
With the length of time the BIG engine is taking to get built I have decided to undertake a small project to get the car up & running. We are going to fit the STI Version 7 Engine (That I was trying to sell to no avail) into my wagon this week complete with STI Version 7/8 Wiring and ECU (to control the AVCS). It will be supported with the large intercooler / radiator assembly as seen above, a TD05 turbo and new up-pipe and down pipe.
Hopefully by Friday the engine and box transplant should be complete and all bolted up with the new Group N / Prodrive mounts.
Additionally, to run the big intercooler I am going to turn the new age inlet manifold round so the throttle body faces the front of the car, this will require a spool piece making up to change the angle of it and stop it catching the bonnet. Hopefully this will get done this week also.

No worries David, I will get chance to come and get them at some point
If you see Mark before I see you please pass them onto him as I'm more likely to bump into him whilst stuck down 'ere in in shandy drinking country
Version 7 loom all over the floor......OK who cut the OBDII diagnostic port out the loom? Come on, own up, I said own up..... DOH!
