Rum,
Apart from the transporter load and two I have spotted on the M40 (wonder why), nothing in or around Leeds.
A pal in Derbyshire has picked up a McRae real cheap and is thrashing the thing to death to keep his mind of the P1 he has on order. He has been told it could be another three to four months before he sees it! He hasn't developed the junky shakes yet, but give it time.

Ken,
Nice looking motor on your site ....tell me, is the front/home page all you have -or should there be other pages??
Anyway - back to the matter in hand - P1's...have you got one on order, and are you in Moortown??
If so, when did you order etc and from where?

Paul,
I sold my MY97 for mine, I bought the P1 to please myself, not anyone else. If you are happy with your STI then great as that makes 2 of us who are happy with their cars.
Sure, 31K could of bought a lot of the cars that are on the market but having owned a Scoobie, I couldn't see myself owning anything else.

Nice to an EVO owner joining in.
How the hairdryer ?
Dont surpose you read EVO ?.
Did I laugh when the RB5 kicked the EVO's butt.
Did I laugh when the P1 was timed against
an EVO and was quicker in Top Gear
Would you also be following the thread on
the evo where all the owners are having major
brake disc problems ?
Yes I sold an RB5, STI V before the P1
Paul Frank
I lost less on the S3 than the STI £3.5k in the end

EVO MAGAZINE
'It takes just half a lap to realise that the RS Sprint is going to cream the opposition'.
Step from the EVO into the RB5 and it feels like the front tyres are made of marshmallow - mmm nice!
(is it true that EVO magazine is owned by Subaru U.K.??)
0-60 RB5 5.0 EVO 4.4
DISK BRAKE PROBLEMS
Put your car through enough track days and yes problems will happen. Still don't 'smoke' on a trip to ASDA though!
AUTOCAR
The STi tested against the EVO made a better fist of it. That must hurt.
***** ENVY
Jonathan has the ***** problem (keeps looking for the biggest stick - clearly hasn't found it yet). Should have kept his STi V (GOOD CAR) and saved his money. Alternatively ring Ralliart on 01384216101 who can help with some rehab.
see ya.

Top Gear did the back to back test not EVO and the P1 was quicker to 60 the same to 100 then just waved bye bye.
Would give you a number to buy a P1, but there all sold unlike EVO's.

So they're all sold huh?
Well we'll see won't we . . . bet I could name a garage near me who will have one sat in their showroom unsold right now!
Anyway are you seriously holding up Top Gear as motoring experts? . . . or just chosing the only ones who happen agree with you?
Next you'll be telling us KH is some kid of guru . . . yeah, right!
Paul
PS also glad to hear you recovered all the money you spent on tuning the S3

I would agree Top Gear is hardly the height of motoring journalism, but all I was stating was that in a back to back 0-60 etc performance test between a std EVO VI and a P1, the P1 was quickest.
Would of thought that as the P1 is only a dolled up STI you'd be pleased. Or would you prefer the non std EVO VI as always tested by Autocar to be quickest.
Still as an STI V owner, you dont have any mags to state as the STI V as always been stuffed by the RB5 and EVO.
Jonathan
ps Yes I did get some nice money back for the MTM conversion on the S3, thanks for your concern

Rum,
I'll fix the first page. Some browsers don't like the hover buttons.
Live in Moortown, office in Leeds and travel around a fair bit.
Don't have a P1 on order. The 4 door is just over 2 months old - too soon/expensive to change. Had the 5 door for 2 years and my next one will be whatever Scooby is around in 2 years time.
As far as the STI, P1 and UK models are concerned, they are all better than an Evo. Did a 250 mile trip in an Evo 6 and it was the most uncomfortable ride ever. Not the sort of car I could live with. Still, to each his own.

You guys make me laugh
I`ve driven all the cars you haro on about!
If i`d paid£30k for an STI about a year ago i`d be pissed to.
How much is it worth now and how much have you wasted getting it better?
Have twatted P1 with big brakes and for a real world B road sctatcher it`s the one.
I will admit that on a race track or airfield the Evo will TURN IN BETTER but is no quicker but I dont own either so i`m not to worried.
If I travelled on fast A roads or indeed did own a race track then i`d take my mates Skyline R34 V-SPEC any day.
Keep smiling!

Arron,
Well I'm real sorry to disappoint you but I paid nearer £20k than £30k for my STi5 . . .
so I still think the P1 - whether that be an 'offical order' (not yet delivered ) or one of the 'all sold' ones presently for sale in the press is still a lot of money for a few toys like 17" alloys.

Paul just think if you hadn`t bought your STI you could have bought a P1.
Now unfortunately you`ve lost so much money that you`ll need to keep your STI for a good few years!
PS I hope it`s mechanicaly sound!
Super plus and all that!
Made a claim on your quality warranty yet?

Yes I do rcognise [/b]GOOD VALUE[/b] - hence my comments!!!
OK, consider: my car which is very, very close to a P1 (DON'T argue - it is in component cost . . . even YOU must agree?) is still very, very much cheaper than a P1.
& what is more I've paid several peoples' mark-ups as well as a very uneconomical price for shipping / conversion etc. but it's still way, way cheaper.
So Jonathan who's getting ripped off then?
The P1 is a typical manufacturer's run-out special to clear the stocks levels of various bits & pieces - a la Ford Cortina/Capri/Escort/Sierra et al
Still someone has to fund that extremely popular (not) satellite channel don't they?
Paul

What you would also notice with runout specials ex Golf Aniversary etc is that they are the most sought after examples.
What Satellite channel are you talking about ?

I saw one in Chester on my way home from work on Friday night. Very nice too. Driver was on his mobile though, tut tut. It would be a shame to stuff if for the sake of a phone call.

Now, I'm about to make a few comments, and I dont care about P1 VERSUS sti but I have made a few observations.....
My car sti 5 cost £24k
with passenger airbag, warranty and cat 1 (from sti imports)
The only real differences to the P1 are the alloys (Hmmmmm... incremental cost about £400 for better Superturismo ones - after seling my alloys and waiting to sell for the tyres to wear down)
Ok you get revised spoilers - and those stupid driving lights which surely most will scrap - was Slowdrive taking the **** with that initiative or was it that because they used the sti as a base there was no room for the proper spot lights?!
Then you have to detract:
No climate - about £500
No cd Player - about £100
No 4 doors - about £400
Then you could add warranty - but then mine has one - and I dont care as I liek to tinker with mine.
Oh, and some commentators mentin mats - are they taking the P*SS
Then theres handling and the ecu - by all accounts the handling still makes it understeer and the ecu appears radically unchanged - re suspension I uprated mine at a cost of £300 and I challenge any P1 driver to any track day session! (wet or dry)
The conclusion I have come to is that I would therefore no be prepared to pay more than £24000 for a P1 as it is clearly substandard to an sti - will they ever learn!
I just cant stop myself from laughing
As far as residuals go, by my estimation there will be nearly as many P1 around as sti's but time will tell - I guess there are plenty of muppets out there willign to pay for a 'perceived' difference - more fool them

Will you guys NEVER learn??????????
The P1 IS very expensive I agree. Even Prodrive concede it is too expensive.
But that is missing the point.
The P1 is SUBSTANTIALLY better than an STi5, even one with a suspension swap, as the power and handling are much more accessable than a Japanese market car. The P1 was designed for British roads which are lumpy compared to the racetrack smooth Jap. roads and so feels a LOT more compliant as a result.
You don't have to worry about your engine blowing up as the ECU has been EXTENSIVELY modified to cope with our sub-standard fuel.
You also get a Warranty that actually means something and is not just a piece of paper that means F**k all if your engine blows up.
The STi's ARE brilliant cars, I STILL would like to get one. But after witnessing the PalmerSport cars problems first hand, I would think seriously about the above before buying one.
I will say it AGAIN (for at least the fourth time on this BBS); DO NOT COMPARE AN STI WITH A P1, THEY ARE VERY DIFFERNT CARS PRODUCED FOR A VERY DIFFERENT REASON. They do not even feel the same. Prodrive have dialled out much of the understeer that afflicts both the STi and the UK car. The car is now much more balanced through a corner due to the suspension doing more work and not pushing the nose wide as a result of being too firm, the main problem which affects an STi5.
DRIVE a P1 (if you can get the chance), THEN compare.
Rob.

hooray, sanity, finally - thanks Rob
I (still) haven't driven mine so I won't make any subjective comments on the relative abilities of the cars (STi or P1) but from what I've read from the journos, the official comments, and those who have driven (both types of) the vehicles, I'm convinced that the P1 is a different car for a different market than the STis.
I can't believe the amount of slagging off that's been going on here - they are all fine cars. Some are more expensive out the showroom, others are tweaked, others are standard, many are faster than the rest. But they're all good and they're just DIFFERENT. It's horses for courses.
There. I've said it.
So now all I need is to drive my P1 when it arrives and I can properly take part in the raging debate.
Perhaps I'll start off a "Delfino Feroce vs P1" debate instead and argue the minute details with myself and Ian Cook
Until then, P1s are great and that's my final word ;>

Jeez... I guess we'll just have to disagree
I cannot believe that some commentators think there is a huge difference between the P1 and the sti5/6 - after all they are the same base car.
There have not been that many radical changes
Ah.... well I guess some commentators would buy a UK impreza when you they can get the same car in Belgium for £6k cheaper.
I guess I should not really bother and be philosophical - as Voltaire said:
'I disagree with what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it'
