Thumbs up

Well said New Boy,I think most of us are only to pleased to own what we own no matter what it is.It just doesn't matter what a person drove before he buy's a scoob.I was always into ford RS in the past and then saw the light.I sold my pride and joy saved hard for three years in which time a was driving around in a Fiat panda until i had the money to buy a scoob. Now when i think about it a Nova is gota be better than a Fiat panda, but it just don't matter. If i see another scoob on the road i'm not thinking about what he drove before it's just another scoob owner enjoying the drive.Go back into your box and come out when you've got something more intelligent to say.

Funny post this one......here goes..........

I went into my local garage to get the toe and camber checked on my stiv7........the garage owner proudly told me the same thing as this post...novas blah blah blah scooobs blah blah blah baseball caps snotty nosed blah blah blah you get the picture..........at this point i thought id stick up for the old girl... and promptly told him that at least hadnt been a total d@ckhead and bought a boxster thinking it was a real porsche and anyways most of the spotty faced snotty nosed reverse baseball cap wearing **** heads I see driving around are in boxsters being little mummies boys................... guess what car he had...............yep you guessed it a Boxster S the other mechanics in the garage nearly p@ssed themselves when they realised i DIDNT know what he had.........

The moral to this story i dunno really but one things for sure I like my stiv7 and dont give a rats *** what anybody else thinks.

Especially some Nova bumming, snotty nosed, spotty faced , baseball cap wearing Boxster S owner who happens to own a garage!!!

Hawk

ps rant over im having a REALLY bad day but now i feel better!!

Very disapointed by the views of this tiny "Classic hating" minority.

I owned a Nova some 4 cars ago and don't feel that makes me any less "deserving" of Scoob ownership.

I haven't been to any Scoob meets yet because of the thought of some to55er looking down his nose at me because I drive a 1995 car and I'm only 24!

Great community.

**** sake... at least Nova Boy is buying his scooby and not bashing you over the head and kicking it from you!!

I am a Nova Boy too... sorry if that offends you!

p.s. Nova for sale Just hope the Moped brigade can aspire to it -if they can afford the insurance?

Chris, I think you have the wrong end of the stick. It's not so much that people here hate the classic, just that its image is going down the toilet because it has become affordable to the type of folk that I regard as one step up the evolutionary ladder from an amoeba- nothing to do with the amount of money they have, just their chosen lifestyle and attitudes.
FYI I have an older wagon and I'm not an old fella, I've been to a few meets and met some great people with old and new cars alike. I didn't sense any attitude from them because I didn't turn up with my underage girlfriend, crappy burberry baseball cap and start doing donuts/burnouts in the car park.
Personally I have nothing but disdain for that type whatever car they happen to be driving.

The 2nd to last meet that I went to had a Celica (yr or so old) revving at the limit demonstrating his flamer kit -i presume?? This went on for about 20 minutes so it was impossible to have a conversation -or by the majority to be impressed?? why was the question most asked?? Also, I tend to find that it is infact the newer cars (M3, & Jap) that are driven to extreme at cruises and meets rather that the older Classic's etc.. just my humble opinion. I'm mid 30's by the way, married with 2 kids, ride a Fireblade, drive a 16v Nova and or recent an STI Type R if that has an impact on how I may or may not drive?

Wot is your lots problem wiv nova/saxo lads?
Yes i had 7 nova's all dun up and money spent on them - i was proud to have a gud lukin motor. The reason many lads pik these is insurance and money and speed of them all adds up to being more than reasonable.
You seem to be thinking that all nova/saxo owners drive like idiots because you only pik out the ones that do. Do you notice a lad driving a Nova safely - no because that does not catch your eye.
Unfortunately there are a few that drive like to$$ers but that doesnt mean u have to label them all like that.
I've seen scoobs driven stupid and read about them on here. Y does that make a difference? it doesnt you just thougth u'd hav a pop at them.
I now hav a classic which i worked my *** off to buy and payed for ins/tracker and cat 1. Im also doing my scoob up. problem with that? dont think so because every1 else does the same.
- right rant over.

Spoken like a true Burberry baseball cap wearing nova driver if ever I heard it.

"Wot is your lots problem wiv nova/saxo...."

"Yes i had 7 nova's all dun up...."

"i was proud to have a gud lukin motor....."

"The reason many lads pik these...."

"I've seen scoobs driven stupid....."

Shouldnt that be stoopid!!!

I'll have to go and see - I was at a biker evening in the summer at a local derbys pub and a load of Scoobs turned up, newer than mine and some were bugeye shape.

As I approached (group of guys in their 30's) I decided not to say anything as they appeared to be a bunch of w@nk3rs!

I'm not saying that they were SN members and I suppose there are always going to be undesirable types - somewhat unfair to associate this behavoiur with young, early classic owners.

Chris

P.S. I'll dye my hair grey and leave my gold wheels covered in brake dust to seek acceptance.

i'm starting to see whats going on here now.

your confusing nova drivers with scallys.

yes there are scallys who drive novas. but they are the ones with the neon washer jets/fake tailpipe exhaust/crappy alloys/ leans over the steering wheel to drive it!
they also drive xr2's/escorts/ or any other d-reg cars they can get there hands on.

not all nova drivers are like that....

i used to be a member of novaload.net and the png ( performance nova group ). and these are the people who go to courtney often for upgrades/ 2ltr turbos etc calibra brakes etc - similar to scooby guys going to some scooby tuning place.

i now do a similar thing to you guys i.e. member of scoobynet and member of SIDC, same thing different but better cars!

so really you need to think up a new name for these burnout/flamer general pain in the *** people your refering to. Not nova boys.

Don't take this the wrong way timmyjmy93wrx but can you post in English rather than the bizarre "txt" dialect you seem to use? So far you seem to be displaying one of the many stereotypes of younger Impreza owners.

Oh how rude of me.
I do apologise, one is at work and was typing quickly, hence the 'txt' type words.
My apologies again if the words were'difficult' to understand.
Please do not take this the wrong way.

Look my point is that there seems to be different generations owning subaru's, so there will be many views upon the owners.
I.e as pointed out the txt lingo is rife amongst younger people.
Anyone agree.
The main point is that you can not give the name novaboys to all the idiots who drive like that. A new name must be created to suit and not pin point the cars. Its the drivers.

It's not so much that they were difficult to understand. More that the type of people that tend to communicate in that manner on anything other than a text message sent via mobile telephone seem to be retards.
Obviously you aren't one so I thought I'd give you the opportunity to set the record straight.

well i've taken a pill!

It just annoy's me that people judge books by their covers. I owned nova's and didnt drive like an 'idiot'. Your right about them being cheap runabouts which is what they are. Its a shame that the decent owners get the same tag that the 'idiots' provide that is all.

Well i drive a porshe and i'm getting fed up with all these unwashed, common Subaru drivers who can now afford a 911 or a Boxter. I mean it's making us all seem rather common

We have a problem here don't we.

We have anyone who is 25years old and less (that includes me) taken offence because they think we're on about young drivers.

Then we have the ex (or current) Nova, Saxo, any small hot-hatch owners taking offence as that's what they own or use to own.

What this Thread is on about is not Specific to any of the above people - SO STOP TAKING OFFENCE - IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU FFS!!!

What we're on about is the usual tastless nutcases, who drive like loonies. And unfortuantely they happen to drive small hot-hatches. because someone says "Nova-man" does'nt mean it's every Nova driver, I think the common majority of people here know that.

So to ones that take offence....what do you want us to call these types of people which this thread is actually referring too??

edit: I'll try to spell "offence" correctly in the future

I wouldn't sell my classic, much too special to let that go! An elderly lady asked me what kind of car it was yesterday, she said it looked lovely.

Hmmm...I think the following reasons will keep Novaboy away from the Impreza (of course you will have the odd one that slips through):

1. 4k for a car is still a lot of cash for him
2. Running costs are far too high - especially petrol - I mean Novaboy loves to show his tin off, and he may avoid all other costs, but not petrol
3. Novaboy couldn't afford an engine rebuild once he blows his cheap jap import up (because he had to use low octane fuel to save money)
4. Most insurance co's don't insure under 25 year olds, which counts the majority of Novaboys out
5. Novaboy will resort to cheap tuning mods that would probably blow the engine up anyway
6. Novaboy would dodge regular servicing to save costs, and end up with a blown engine
7. The more engines Novaboy blows up the less cars available

I can't see Novaboy targetting bugeyes, even if they become cheaper than classics simply because of their percieved representation of sexual orientation!
