100-140 in my std UK scooby is fairly brisk.

Bearing in mind that you don't need to hit 5th until about 120mph. It's considerably quicker than my old 2 litre Celica was.

I suppose it's all relative though. Compared to a McLaren F1, it would be downright sluggish. Compared to a Celica it's quick. I certainly wouldn't say that it is "a very long time".

Just interested SKOOBH8R, have you driven a Scooby from 100-140mph, and are therefore qualified to make this statement?

Of course he hasn't! No doubt he'll be on here lying about his broad experience of fast motors- my bet is he doesn't even have his driving licence yet. Either that or he is still stuck driving a learner/housewives shopping car like the rest of the low rent ned brigade.

All I can say is that I put a scooby ECU in my UK car and can cofirm that it is now CONSIDERABLY faster above 100, in fact it pulls all the way upto the maximum on the clock and keeps going.

Yes I have it was a UK 2000T. Dont think it's that fast after 80. Definatley not compared to quite a few fast cars I have driven. Not anywhere as fast as my 300ZX

I can't comment on the speed of the scoobs but after my chum sold his 2L Nova I bought a modded GTi-r (280bhp) and we both agreed the Nova would have been toast, 0-60, 0-100, top end...hel if you dropped the 2 cars out of an aeroplane the Pulsar would have hit the ground first!
But thats what you get when you tune a car thats pretty quick in the first place. The nova was a hel of a lot of fun but really hard work to keep on the road....power steering would have been nice
We never looked on it as a tuned car vs a standard car though, we just used to laugh at the fact it was a Nova beating something expensive/exotic, whichever way you look at it, surely you have to see the beauty in that! If I lost to one, I'd have no beef about it....as long as they didn't drive past giving me the finger!
(can't believe I used the word "beauty" and "nova" in the same sentence )

well skoobh8r that's the first sensible thing I've heard you say. I've been passengered in a 300ZX and they only seem to get going for real at about 80 (still quick to that speed). I'm sure they are a lot faster than an Impreza, however I think we'd all expect that wouldn't we?

I don't know why any1 cares! Nova's are crap cars, they look ****e, have poo interior, who would feel good driving 1 round?? Or picking up ur date? Only a ****! Even if it was a 2.0 T? Also, how many 2.0 16V T are there?? Not many, none where I live! There all ****ty 1.3SR's or what ever?! There for 17 yr olds who have no money, and they do serve there purpose, but there in a different league in every way....

At the end of the day, if u double the BHP of the STI what would win? Also, what car would u perfer?

Plus, UK is very wet, try racing a FWD 200+ bhp Nova in the drizzle!

Cool

Back to the original topic. I've raced a few Nova's, must admit, when they are built right they are well worthy of a mention.

I have a mate who's had one for 10 years and has been built from the shell upwards and on the back roads i can't get near it. Its not a turbo version but is running 2.1 with twin 45's.

Each to their own, at 18, all i could afford was a Mini clubman, the boys with there 1.3sr's are gona be in Scobies in 5 years time, we all started somewhere.

Just my 2 pence worth.

Erm, why wouldn't Nova Boy graduate to a Scoob? Don't forget GM (i.e. Vauxhall) are part owners of Subaru...

Got caned by one on the way down to Trax this year (MY02 WRX running 248bhp). Ran alongside each other at ~100mph then I dropped a gear and he did the same and left me, found him at trax he has 2.0 turbo + nitrous in a stripped out Nova. Fking quick.

The Corsa at the Scooby Shootout was awesome.

Span wheels in first, but then into second it just flew, usually past competing Scoobs

My 205 should be at 200bhp in 12 months ish, will be having a go at Elvington then

Freak, is this a sore subject for u?!!!!!
Not at all. lol

As micky says, i dont have a nova

I just think its funny how some scooby owners wont let their ego admit that something so cheap and built for peanuts and with the reputation that novas/corsas/whatevers have, can beat their scoobs really rather easily....

take a ride in one and be very scared. (yes it is a nova we are talking about- but this post was purely about 'beating' one- nothing more)

p.s greasemonkey- spot on
