I still think the thing he did to convince the cashier to pay up on a losing greyhound race ticket was amazing. I guess this was just more of the same. At least i'd like to think it was.

Question

Perhaps he should have used David Blaine's head instead - that would have livened up the debate?

BTW. Thought is was great drama - real or not (but won't be so great the first time some drugged up kid tries it). D

i thought all the stuff about "this shouldn't be shown on tv" was a bit of a joke. it's hardly as though your average hollywood movie doesn't have any guns in it. why was this so different? I thought it was quite a good stunt.

I think it would great if the druggies started playing it, in fact I think it should be encouraged

I thought it was fantastic - I've always been a fan of Derren, very talented man (if a little freaky ) .

Had me on the edge of my seat last night, an excellent show he's just added some more tour dates website HERE if you want to go and see him, I'm currently trying to convince the husband to go, but he's not sure as he doesn't want to be "picked"!!

>>Does it not make sense to shine light through the windows? If there was dark behind them they would have acted like a mirror with all those lights inside, this could be deemed to be distracting to the viewers.<<

I was much more distracted by the guy with a Steadicam walking in front of Derren or standing right behind him when he was talking!!! Pseudo doc or what!

Where was it actually shot then – knew a lot of the crew & all were UK guys! Something fishy going on – was being abroad an illusion too Anyway anything broadcast in UK is governed by ITC rules – wherever it originates…

The key to how this was done is probably very simple and will have NOTHING to do with psychology or mind manipulation. It is probably much more mechanical or something to do with a long lens and a floor manager coughing (Millionaire style...). Absolutely brilliant execution though - guy's a great!

Also - did anyone see the 100 Best Magic Tricks prog after it? Did you see that David Coperfiled gag at No5 – where he can fly – even flies into a glass box, someone puts a lid on it and then walks on the top as he keeps flying through 360 degrees inside. That one made me scratch my head a hundred times more than Derren’s gag. AMAZING!

governed by ITC rules
What's the ITC got to do with it?

It's illegal to own or operate a handgun with live ammo in the UK, that's why he went abroad, I'm pretty sure he didn't fancy the mandatory 7 year sentence he'd get in the UK

hmm some people just dont seem to be able to grasp the simple fac of it not being a magic trick or illusion or claiming to be either. they did it over seas due to uk gun laws not anything about itc and what crew were from the uk? the only ppl were the ppl being whittled down, derren himself, a gun expert and a cameraman or 2

Hobo - mate ALL the credited crew were from UK. If you shoot it in Latvia then you would have a couple of Latvian sparks, runners, grips & make up; trust me! People with names more foreign sounding maybe - e.g ARMOURER: Vadim Gonnashootamaearoff

I've shot many a gun in UK - I'm not sure if you have to have a licence to shoot a gun in a field or a shooting range, only to own one maybe? What do I know - I just pulled the trigger and then read my ITC manual

did you catch the other stuff he was doing during the preparation. The guy is feckin excellent at deducing who is suceptable and who is not and proved this throughout the whole show (the coloured chair thing being quite eerie). I suggest you go visit his site, I think its www.channel4.com\derrenbrown. There's loads of mad tests and stuff to tax your weary minds.

I like the bit c4 said about the live feed being delayed JUST INCASE he blew his brains out.

I sat watching intensely and after the first shot my screen went blue . Just my sky playing up but had me going for a while, when it came back on he was shooting an empty chamber at the sandbag.

Yer that David Copperfield flying trick is still the best illusion I have ever witnessed. Even more amazing is that he did it ages ago - must be what 10 years? Never heard of anyone who has suggested how that was done.

What the hell was above that trick in the rankings?

Simon.

Exclamation

Reports today in the "downmarket" tabloids today that the stunt was done in Jersey, not somewhere exotic, and therefore subject to UK laws.

Consequently, police did not let this proceed without being assured beforehand that the bullet was a blank.

"Nobody was ever at any risk" one police officer was quoted as saying.

Well the Jersey police were satisfied that they didn't need a licence as it was not "a lethal weapon". Therefore I suggest that either the gun had been modified so it couldn't fire, or the bullet was suspect in some way. I didn't see the programme, but is it possible he palmed the bullet so there wasn't one in there at all? He could then have rigged the sack with some pyros so it looked like a bullet had gone into it.

Question

Its all about illusion and risk...

there is no way any magician will attempt a stunt without assesing the risk...

and if there is one thing thats certain they wont take risks.. everything is calculated....

a couple of his earlier points were correct...he only wanted people who were "easily suggestive"

anyonw who wanted him dead was a risk... he would not have been in control!!

still way better than the bloke in the box..

anyway the one near us doing it hasnt lost any weight since he started!!!!!!

A27 and all will be revealed
