I've just had my clutch replaced under warranty (14k miles) because it juddered when cold. My dealer (Anderson Cars, Perth)changed it without question, unfortunately it now judders all the time but not to the same extent - it seems that it's just one of those Impreza things.

Had mine replaced under warranty at 12,000 miles. It does not judder now. The dealer mentioned that the flywheel needed replacing too.

My MY95 5Dr juddered from new when cold right up until 27K, dealer always said nothing is wrong @ 27k a burning smell started appearing when reversing into my garage, no apparant signs of slipping. dealer diagnosed a burned clutch & asked for £500 to fix. They eventually stumped up when I pointed to a service bulliten posted on the wall warning to install this new type of clutch plate in all Legacy & Impreza models & reminded them of my continual complaints from new.

The clutch has juddered on my 97 model since new, although only when cold. I have now covered nearly 36,000 miles, and the clutch is still fine.

All four tyres are now down to 3mm, which for that mileage is superb.

If the clutch does give out, what should it be replaced with?

Is the new clutch covered by the same 1 year/20k miles warranty?

Over the Winter, my clutch seemed to judder on most mornings when the car was cold. Sometimes it would go away after a few miles and other times it would be present for a few days at a time.
However, for the last 6 weeks, no problems at all. And the turning point - 3 runs up the 1/4 mile sprint track at Crail.
I seem to remember something on the FAQ that this can clean up the surface of the clutch.

Clutch replaced last Friday. No judder yet.
Also noticed that the clutch is noticeably lighter now.
