Road Angel
Contact is on lunch, and will call me back.
Looking at the Origin B2, Costco will be selling them from Nov 10th and the women seemed to think that is the B2 not the i.
Looking at the B2 on the web and it seems that you need to get it professionally installed? It also said that you only get subscription for 6 months and then it is £50 per year. Road Angel comes with 12 months and then you can pay £100 for lifetime subscription. You also need to join Costsco to get hold of them (which costs).
All of the above could be rubbish of course. I dont want to wait until 10th Nov so will order mine when he calls me back.
You pays your money etc....

According to the man at the desk he said the Pic might be wrong but the description on the back of the voucher is right
Nuff said
I have no interest in the group buy or Costco
I use the Road Pilot The advanced warning system

Count me in if it's not too late. I've been toying with the idea of buying a Road Angel for some months after seeing a good test report comparing it with other detectors in Autocar. Your price clinches it for me.

I arranged a group buy on the b2 the other day, just search under the title.
The guy will probably honour the price of £340 to anyone who wants it.
The road pilot is an awesome bit of kit, but far larger and less neat than the B2. it also presents too much information for my purposes and seesm to handle navigation too.
The road angel is not in the same league as the b2 in terms of thinking of the mounting, design functionality usability and usefulness of features.
and the origin is still the only which only alerts you when you are speeding.
now that I have put in a sales pitch, want to make sur ethat I am not stepping on toes here. didnt get anything out of the group buy apart from the cheap price, and since I have mine already it makes no difference to me if people want the road angel.

without wanting to detract the thread away from Road Angel
Doesn't the B2 need to be hard wired? if so what did this cost
I am a road Pilot convert sold my road angel and haven't looked back

Not stepping on toes, I have ordered my Road Angel already, so doesnt matter to me.
I chose the Road Angel because of the price (£40 cheaper than your group buy) and the fact that you get 12 months subscription free and after the 12 months you can pay £100 for lifetime subscription. With the B2 you only get 6 months free and then have to pay £50 every year.
I also like the fact that you can just plonk the Road Angel on your dash and plug it in.
Might sound a bit strange but when your driving along concentrating on the road, how many 'features' can you use safely. I just want to know wheteher I am coming up to a camera or not and what is the true 'GPS' speed that I am doing. Simple.
Anyway, each to there own.

If anyone wants an Origin b2 this page on ebay has them brand new for £299, with 10 available, no idea if there's any catch, but it seems genuine enough....

Phil, will try to answer what I can.
chod,
appreciate your neck having a go at me for posting on here about this.
The b2 doesn't need to be hard wired, but the aerial is remote and should be stuck on the dash with the wire dangling to where you want it. The laser detector is optional and can be stuck to the screen again with the wire dangling from it.
The bracket supporting the b2 has jack plugs which plug into these cables and also to the cigarette lighter.
The unit itself can then be removed for security and is about the size of a credit card just about half an inch thicker.
Hardwiring woudl neater but is not a requirement.
You can buy additional wiring kits for £75 and swap the unit between cars.
Chod, features wise, I am talking about programmability. These arent feautres you access on the go, you preprogram them and then the units is configured with these features from then on.
you can download the manual in pdf format and see what I mean but it is very cunning. what you can do.
It has alerts for congestion charge cameras and schools too which only go off at the appropriate times as the gps signal incorporates a clock beacon.
the best feature without question is the ability to switch of the alert so that it only warns you when you are speeding.
sorry once again if anyone considers this a hijack.
I am going to put the suggestion forward of a lifetime subscription as the owners website allows that facility.
, so it doesn't need to sit on your dash it can be placed somewhere more convenient and neater.

Paul, no worries. you're right in that normally they are around the 400 quid mark. there was talk earlier in this thread thought of Costco doing a voucher allowing you to buy it for 199+vat. seems to be a little confusion as to the model though if it's the b2 or its predecessor and Costco being the brilliant Customer service organisation they are can't tell anyone one way or the other as to which model it is !!!! so guess need to wait til Nov to see what turns up on the shelf.....
To all those that ordered:
Just spoke to the man and he said that he needs to verify that addresses match up to credit cards and then he will be sending them out. Should send them either today or tomorrow.

BlackScooby. It does sound a little too good to be true. Looking at the passport book, where it appears, the pic is of the older model, whereas the description points to the newer model, specifacally wrt the laser detector which I don't believe the previous one had. Had a look yesterday and they don't have them in yet so guess won't know till later this month earlier next, but I have a sneaky suspicion it will be the original version and probably the wrong price too !!!
