Steve, sounds like there rollers were up the swanny to me....
My MY 94 recorded 256BHP on 14psi of boost with just a rear box and ITG filter on the Tuning Japanese rollers last time around.
That was the same time that Keith (Krud) ran with his Wagon on a TEK1.
If his was down on power then no doubt yours was too... I'm just glad I didn't come along as my MY00 recorded 284BHP/272ft at PE... It'd probably struggle to get 255 today by the sound of it.
Pity Keiths (Krud) didn't give a true figure as I reckon we are about evens on spec....

A big thanks to Jen for organising this
my bhp figures were just about spot on - 285 (288, 3 weeks ago at P E )
but i lost a big dollop of torque - 232 ( was 257 )
good to meet everyone - but own up - who has nicked my 25lbs/ft ? ?

It was a good day despite the cold and thanks to Jen for organising it. It seemed a good setup there but my figures were just plain weird too;
Peak Power was 291 @ 5250!! Peak torque was 284 @ 5180?? Gives my drag as 68.5 too, wish it was
Engine pulls to 8K. Last time I was on a RR 6th September it was a very hot day and engine was very hot having just had a basic mapping session on the rollers (Powerstation). I had a misfire due to dodgy plugs but made 320 at 6320 which was where they stopped the run but power was still climbing. Since then that's been fixed, I've had the centre sports cat taken out, an uprated actuator and fuel reg fitted followed by 2 days of mapping with Bob Rawle, I spoke to him yesterday and have sent him the graph. He was laughing thinks my car is nearer 400 than 300 and (no disrespect to Len) is much stronger than his which made 318??
Will have to get a second opinion or a third till I get one I like

Thanks for your comments Nathan and Scott. "Complete a*se" is what I'll go along with. Sounds like a trip to Uxbridge coming up.

Cheers scott...and another 'strange' thing was that my boost went straight up to 1.1 bar then dropped to 0.8 and stayed there for the rest of the power run ????
According to the print out my maximum torgue was at 4200 rpm !!
WTF ??
Anyone know where i can go to get another run to compare?
steve

yup the figures were screwed up, my car should have made c.320/330bhp yesterday, it hits 1.3bar on the road, but only hit 0.9bar on the rollers, seriously lame! This would apparently suggest the loading on the rollers was well out or the tester didnt have his foot to the floor!
270bhp and 216ftlbs, WTF!?
Turbo + Injectors will be chucked on soon, that should sort things.
Wont be using those rollers again.

If a RR day is going to be organised at PE in the coming cold months then count me in, as the results for all the cars were incorrect.

Well said POC. Glad your keeping it. I was thinking about selling mine afterwards but after a talk with Pavlo, im keeping it. lol
Apparently my peak power is 6500rpm! lmfao. DOnt think so as it pulls like a mother from about 4000/4500.
My second graph jumped from 275lbst to 295. lol

First off, Cheers to Jen (& Chris ) for organising the day.
Being a newbie to rolling roads I thought the set up at SAS (wtf does that stand for btw? Bet it's really obvious! ) was ok. It was quite reassuring seeing them plugging stuff (det cans etc.) to the car, I thought they'd just get it on there and rag the **** off it - after all, if it breaks it's not their fault!
As for the results, I had no benchmark to relate too (apart from 208bhp "out-of-the-box" , but was happy with my 262bhp / 228lbs-ft. Must admit I thought some of the other figures were lower than I would expect, generally the torque figures. I was actually expecting a bit more than 228 myself but maybe the computer was fooked and what I lost in torque I gained in bhp?!
Anyway, apart from a few dodgy results, a good day. Nice to put a few more faces to names . I wouldn't rule out using them again tho, mainly cos they are the nearest by a long way. And at the end of the day, it's all relative, and people aren't so quick to moan when the rollers are just as inaccurate at other locations... albeit inaccurate on the generous side!
Cheers,
J

Yes that was me on Wednesday making all the noise past the golf course, I was setting the boost controller back up to find that extra 1 bhp to beat Len again.
Still can't understand some of the figures the Scoobys recorded. Compared with the PE RR day my Scooby is absolutely flying, doesn't feel like the same car but considerably less torque recorded
Len I was expecting to make 350ish.
POC 320 would sound close.
White RA looked a handfull on the rollers 340 - 360.
Blue Scooby with Pace FMIC 320-330.
Money was always going to be unknown but surely high 3's.
The old blue ****ter 318 bhp WTF was that all about, a bloody bargain for £3750
Colin.

POC should have made more definitely. His torque was plain stupid!
My torque should have been higher.
Power Engineering it is for me Im going to try and get there this week and see what they say

Looks like i am going to have to try and get to PE for a run, then i can compare figures.
I thought the SAS set up was very good and they had a good routine when i came to getting the cars in and out.I would certainly use them again.....it was the first time my car has been on the rollers so i am still unsure if my readings are correct. The only way to tell is try somewhere else!!
Top marks to everyone for bringing their cars down and sorry i couldn't stop and see all of the runs.
Look forward to meeting up with the pompey lot soon.
steve.

I used them in the beginning of the year on a MY95 wrx with a full decat and induction and made 292bhp and 253lbs of torque. Seemed right.

Here's my RA on the rollers:
Results were 277hp and 224lb ft. Torque-wise I had no idea what to expect. Compared to everyone else, 224 lb ft seemed quite respectable so I'm happy it's running well enough but wouldn't mind knowing the real figures.
Has anyone spoken to Tuning Japanese about the results?

Sounds like the bigger power cars were slipping on the rollers, this really hits the torque figures but power is usually fairly close as the rollers catch up at the top end.
I had this at well lane and gained over 30bhp and 50lb-ft by putting 3x "well built" blokes in the back seat

They should have detected it. It can be quite discrete though, I have seen Jim at Star Performance lift off mid run and I hadn't noticed anything different.
The slip between tyre and roller generates heat and that's where your torque reading goes ! as the torque tails off up the rpm range, the rollers catch up and normally give a reasonable power figure although this is likely to be at a higher rpm than the real peak power.
At Star, using the same rollers, we need to spray the tyres (with traction aid) on anything above 300lb-ft torque or with type R/Ra gearing.
Also, if you pumped your tyres up to gain a few bhp at the wheels this makes them slip even worse !!

lol, my slip was bad then. lmfao
Just telling Paul my results - asking figure at each 500rpm etc and he is cracking up. He says the results are definitely bullsh*t.
I wish it was run properly man, would have been nice to see an accuate figure and not a made up one!

Just compared my chart with the last chart I had done at PE in the summer.
SAS:
Peak BHP @ 6400
Peak Torque @ 6260
PE:
Peak BHP @ 5720
Peak Torque @ 4400
SAS:

just goes to show every ones differnt, the only way is abbeys dynopak system?
but i dont understand how they can vary so much, and me being a bit of a numptie what is the drag figure?

I was on the rolling road at Power Engineering recently and made 205bhp. OK so it's only a UK car, but with a full decat that's taking the mickey.
The wheelbase on their rollers wasn't set to the correct length. They adjusted it and low and behold, 249bhp with 250ftlb torque.
Am I right in thinking the classics and new shapes have different wheelbases? If so this could have been affecting the results??
Just an idea, but can't really comment cos I weren't there.
