Default Mr D

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a go

What difference should I be looking for, an improvement?

Sorry, changing the vacuum pipe to dump valve should show improvement.

Unplugging MAF should make it worse. Therefore if it stays the same, you maf is buggered.

Attention - I'm gonna attempt to be a bit techie here so bear with me

Brynster - on the DV, there's a sticky out bit that the small hose from the inlet manifold connects to (opposite end to the end that mounts on the intercooler). On mine (which is slightly different to yours in that it's a VTA) this sticky out bit is screwed into the main body of the DV. When I got mine this wasn't screwed in tightly and was causing the DV to leak. I nipped it up and it was fine!

You can also test if it's leaking by pushing the piston up inside the DV (it's quite a strong spring so you will have to use something like a marker pen to push it up with) and whilst it's pushed up, put your finger over the end of the sticky out bit. The piston should stay inside and not move until you let your finger off. If it returns to normal position with your finger over the end, then the DV is leaking.

Of course, all of the above could be completely wrong 'cos let's face it, I'm hardly the world's most competent mechanic!!!!

Question Erm...

Scooby new - With the DV getting all sweaty in my hand, I can push the valve up and then put my thumb over the skinny pipe and the valve does come down a bit, but not all the way. The vacuum my thumb creates over the end does keep the valve up and it only comes back down when I remove me thumb.

Mr D - Where do I get vacuum tubing from, is it a Samco hose thing?

Default latest from well lane thread..!!!!!!! CLEAN CAR TIME

Good news too.

As well as the Scooby magazine coverage there will be a PRIZE for the best MODIFIED car of the day judged and decided by Dave from Jap Innovations (my boss) www.jap-innovations.co.uk

I meant to do this on the last RR day, but I forgot.

The prize will be worth around £30 and is open to all cars attending, not just the runners and will be judged on a combination of originality, mods done and general pride of ownership.

Dave will be looking for a car where the owner has chosen good, well thought about modifications and presented them well and as originally as possible. If the weather holds out, he'll also be assessing how well the car is turned out on the day.

Thanks

Rich

Bryn, you can use samco, or you could get some from a local motor parts company, just specify you want some thin vacuum hosing suitable for turbo applications.

If you stuck, i have a load of the stuff.

Default Oi,

I distinctly recall changing my quote from 311 (and a half) to 281 (and a half) what's going on

Mr Darley Sir - Thanks for the offer, I intend to purchase a Samco set of hoses but my plastic has expired and I am stuck awaiting it's replacement wouldn't mind 'borrowing' some to try and nail this idling issue down to something.
