I'm a definite for 7 on thurs on Hessle foreshore. Is that the bit of herring bone parking almost directly under the bridge. You can't miss my scooby as it has it's Christmas decorations on, probably a bit tasteless as I've used gold tinsel.

Typ 3R - were you down Salthouse Road about 3:30ish on Saturday afternoon, if so it was me in the red Scoob that waved - saw you flicking your brake lights after you'd gone past

Ads/Pum - if you are driving up there together on Thursday can I come too?? Where are you meeting? Buzz - you coming in convoy too?

Question

Pum - is Big John coming on Thursday night?

Forgot to post up about my VERY near miss last night. Went for a sedate drive out with Debs, it was cold and the roads were very greasy. Driving over the bridge over the A63 from Brough to South Cave (you know, the one with the stupid junction and road layout) when this FECKWIT in a Metro sitting at the junction decided to pull out of a side road onto the main road about 20 feet in front of me. Car coming in the opposite direction so I hit the brakes, locked up, skidded, and fortunately managed to steer around him whilst also avoiding the oncoming car - thank **** I've got ABS and new discs/pads. How the hell I missed him I will never know - it must have been millimetres away. I was just expecting to hear that nasty sound of cracking plastic, bending metal and breaking glass - but fortunately there was none! Anyway, the car came to a halt about 20 feet past him, and there I am in the middle of the road. First concern was to make sure that Debs was OK (you will recall that she is 8 and a half months pregnant). Looked in my mirror to see the Metro driving off hastily in the opposite direction. I was NOT happy about this and decided that the guy owed me some kind of explanation or apology. So I spun the car around and went after him. Got behind him VERY quickly lights flashing and horn blowing and he pulled over. I pulled alongside, we wound down our windows and had an exchange of words (Debs made me promise there would be no violence!). His excuse - he assumed I was turning off! I asked him what made him think I was turning off - was I indicating? No he said, I just thought you would be. WTF????? Anyway, I resisted the urge to drag him out of his car and let him know what I REALLY thought about his driving and suggested he book himself a course of driving lessons and re-take his test. First class to$$er. You can bet your life that if there'd have been a collision, PC Plod would've taken one look at my car and decided that "excess speed" on my part was a contributing factor and this idiot would've probably been absolved of any blame.

Also glad you're OK.

Was it really wise to chase after him especially with Debs in the car. Will shouting at him make him a better driver, I doubt it. Next time he's parked next to a Scooby in the supermarket I wonder how careful he will be with his car door?

Truth is this guy is wandering around in his own dream (as we all do) and he's justified his mistake in his own mind as something he thought you were going to do. Look at it this way: your good and attentive driving allowed you to avoid him, at my advanced years I'd settle for that. D.

D,

On reflection, probably NOT a wise idea to chase after him, but in the heat of the moment it happened.

However, I DO believe it was a good idea to shout at him and give him a piece of my mind. Probably won't make him a better driver but might shake him up a bit and make him think twice before doing it again. If I hadn't rebuked him for his carelessness he would likely have driven off thinking his actions were perfectly normal and acceptable.

Blackjax deal sounds good. As I understand it this is an accessory to an already installed Clifford system. Not sure how it can work in a non Clifford system and for that matter I havn't a clue the make of the security on my STi8. Any ideas anyone. Sorry I havn't got any spring compressors either. D.

Exclamation

Just a warning to watch out for scheduled speed cameras tomorrow on A165 holderness road, A63 Hull (Smith & Nephew flyover?), and A63 Melton. These are on Thursday's enforcement schedule (no time of day info). Go to
http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/safetycamera/downloads/enforcement_schedule.pdf

Sorry don't know how to make it work as a clicky.

redscooby,

You have to find somewhere to host the pic (like fotopic etc) and then put a link to it in your post.

If you look at my first post on this thread (way back on page 1) and click the "edit post" button you'll see how I put the link in to the photo of my car.

If this all sounds too complicated then email the pic to me at [email protected] and I'll put it up for you.

it is made by clifford but this unit is an add on. it can be fitted to any vehicle that doesnt have a clifford alarm.also look in security section on scoobynet it gives a more detailed explanation on how it works and how much they cost. see you all thurs
