David - I doubt whether it'll be for sale by its owner as I think it legally belongs to the leasing company. But I'll ask.......
What do you want from it? Doesn't seem to be much left!
Steven - which garage is it?

Steven - have you been out on the pish?? Or are your fingers broken??
Just checked and the car is not his - it belongs to the leasing company so he has no idea what will happen to it. If you know where it is being stored I would speak to the garage and get the contact details from them.

Ey up!
Friday night was pretty good - hung over on Saturday tho
I spotted SIX new Scoobs in Hull on Saturday - all bugeyes and blobeyes tho, no proper Scoobs (classics) . And not one of the drivers acknowledged me
Saturday night was OK - fireworks, food and more alcohol

I will need to pop over to Steven's at some point to pick up a strut brace so that might be a reasonable excuse for a drive out? Plus I also need to check out my new brakes
I've just realised the birthday fairy never brought me any 17" wheels . Looks like I'll have to ask Santa instead .
By the way I drove up to Welptons at the weekend and there were no signs of it being a Subaru dealership. Plenty of Rovers and Hyundais tho.
Steve
PS. My car is ***NOT*** pink!!!

Hi all,
I'm alive and well and busy so barely a chance to post. Went to TSL last Monday for a full Geom as I suspected my local dealer who fitted the Prodrive springs wasn't up to it. The "before" readings at TSL confirmed this. All now wonderfully set up, car just flows around corners, brakes in a straight line and has far more grip (even on the OE bridgestones). If the end of block exemption means that I can service it at TSL and still keep the warranty it will be worth the trip.
While I was there the boss man took me out in their STi8 demonstrator (330bhp with their own mapping and gorgeous 5 spoke speedline? dark bronze 18" rims £1300+vat to you sir). Also got a brief drive, definitely brisker than my ppp but was on unfamiliar roads. Oh the temptation, saving for the wheels already.
Following York RR I promised to do some calcs about intercoolers. Without the boring detail and depending on the circumstances it would be possible to lose up to 25% power in the case of no cooling at all at 1.4 bar boost (I'm sure the 134degC inlet temperature (70% compressor efficiency) would cause the ppp ECU to back things off as well). There must be some convection with the bonnet open on a RR and surprisingly little flow is needed to get almost sufficient cooling - say the eqivalent of 5 mph air flow in the cooler - maybe only 10 mph on the road, bottom line is that results can be very hit and miss in these circumstances so If you were 40bhp down just blame it on the unrealistic lack of cooling. Cheers Dick.

Dick,
What is "end of block exemption"?
I'm going to get my geom set up properly when I acquire some bigger wheels . Which reminds me, I must get those settings off Mr Steven.....
As for your last paragraph, I couldn't agree more

James,
Whereabouts in the tyre is the screw? Is it repairable or will you need a new tyre? I'd ring round a few places to get a few quotes to see how the prices vary.
Are Welptons going to sell Subarus too or just service them? The only thing that would concern me about using them is if they have only just started doing it they won't have all the experience of other longer-term dealerships. I guess they'll all have been on a training course or maybe they've employed some Subaru specialists? Or perhaps all the Subaru-related staff from Jordans have been transferred to Welptons in which case there's nothing to be gained? I don't know how it works but I wouldn't be comfortable entrusting my pride and joy to a bunch of newbies who are used to servicing Metros!!!

Forgot to add - SLOW DOWN ON HEDON ROAD - I saw a parked speed camera at 2.30 AM - yes we were the only thing on the road - it was a police van parked near the new sewerage works (I work in Ambulance service based at Preston). You've all probably seen the speed camera vans on Clive Sulli Way just over the flyover...
This latest ploy is a bit disgusting - we didn't pass a single car - it was definately active cos you could clearly see a red LED on the camera (yes we were going that slow ). It's not like there's any schools around there...

The screw is straight through the tread and the tyre wall looks a bit iffy too...
Jordans are only stopping selling Subarus - they'll still service them... My only experience of Welptons was a Metro Turbo 7 years ago - they were VERY helpful and seemed to know what they were doing. For minor stuff I think I'll gve them go. Can't be any worse than Jordans...And for major stuff I'll travel to find a decent main dealer anyway.

2:30am????
That is ridiculous considering the new campaign is being sold as "Safety Cameras" and not speed cameras. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for 20mph zones and "safety" cameras outside schools, hospitals, accident blackspots, old people's homes, residential streets etc etc.
But 2:30am when there's nobody else on the roads on a nice big wide new road like Hedon Road is just stupid. And you can bet your insurance excess that if some low-life had nicked your car around that time there'd have been no officers available to respond and do anything about it

Steve,
I don't really pretend to understand block exemption except that it has to to with allowing the dealers to protect their interests among themselves and charge us more for our cars than they would be able to in a genuinely free market. There must be knock on issues around servicing and warranties hence my comment. Recent changes have meant that the dealers existence will become less cosy thus resulting in some giving up their franchises. I could be completely wrong about this and if anyone knows better I'd love to be enlightened.
Get your geom done anyway, it'll still be good when you change your wheels and you'll have the benefit now. You don't need the settings if you go to TSL because they know best anyway. Best upgrade you can have and you don't have to tell the insurance company. Also while you're there they may tempt you with a ride in their STi8 demo.
Tyres around Hull. I always go to Savoy, they've always seen me right. Ring round all the usual suspects first to get best price (maybe get a quote off black circles) and then Savoy will usually match the best. D.

Interesting the Tailvans are targetting Hedon road. I passed one at 10.30 am yesterday east bound just before the roundabout east of the Sewage works, fortunately I am committed to behaving myself around town, I even go out of my way to be courteous to everyone and forgive others mistakes (I make enough myself after all) and besides my car is a bit noticeable and if I end up parked next to someone I had treated unkindly then .....
Sorry got off the point which is if they clock you on Hedon road I doubt that it would stick in Court as the speed limit signs are well sub standard. Some are sprayed over to obscure the old 40 signs and the 30 signs are on one side at the start of the limit when they should be each side. Interestingly I noted today that they've been tidied up a bit, perhaps someone has realised they might lose some revenue and have a messy session in court. D.

Ads,
Yes I popped along to the rr just as they were finishing up. Not entirely impressed with the arrangement, realised (the engineer in me) that results would be dubious, and didn't fancy torturing my car, so didn't run it. Saw the results and I think some of the dissapointment is consistent with my calcs.
Sorry about the advertising, didn't realise! Do like to give credit when it's due. Thinking about their open day 6/12, will be crowded there as they havn't much space. D.
