Infiniti CD-R's (i like these disc's lots and wont buy anything else)
I bought a 7 disc DVD+R pack (1 each type disc from svp) all were a bluey purple dye, and not had any problems with them, written everything at max speed of disc's too and bought 21 -R's off a mate who got wrong disk type and not had any problems with them yet either
Although i did have a user error when i tried to write an iso, it didn't work popped disk back in pc and found that i'd just written it as a data disk

cdr working on xbox will depend on which dvd drive was installed in the xbox at manufacture- early xbox with thomson / philips dvd drives will not read cdr/cdrw media at all , and even if chipped will NOT work. The only way round this is to swap out the dvd drive. Best thing to do is either flog the xbox and get another one or if u real cheap skate goto argos buy an xbox - swap out the dvd drive and then claim back u dotn wnat the xbox since u have 14 days to return it for full refund....u do this at your own risk....
Most of the new xbox now use a samsunng dvd drives which will read cdr/cdrw media with no probs so if u have these in your xbox then u in luck!

So you ever done this think hanging off feet pads and broken or slightly pulled off labels might give game away though

na i didt have to go to argos to swap out a drive , I was lucky enough that my xbox had the samsung drive already
however my mate did do the argos trick, he peeled of the stickers with out damaging it and swaped out the drive , he took xbox back next day and all argos did was make sure the xbox inside - they didt even bother looking at the stickers to check if it had been tampered with! He was one happy bunny
my xbox plays dvix/xvid movies fine from cdr - cool thing to have without having to drag a pc downstairs to watch a film - hook up xbox and away u go - one cool console

Its a Peer2Peer client for file sharing. You'll get all of the public domain stuff on there as well as a few other bits
For really up to date X-Box stuff you're better off using IRC. Go to #xbins on EfNet and all will become clear

CD-RWs will work with a Thompson DVD drive...

Should do mate, that's what leads me to think it may not be installed 100% correctly. It was very tricky to get the pogo pins lined up on mine. They looked okay, but needed rizla width movements to get it just right.
I ended up running the Xbox with the case open tweaking the chip until it worked, then screwed the sucker down tight

Depends what you want from it mate.
Mine is primarily a divx/dvd/mp3/games player. Total entertainment centre in your living room without the need for a PC.
You can run emulators for N64, Arcade, SNES, Megadrive etc
Run Linux, DOS, Windows, Web Servers, Stream Radio, TiVo, write cd-R's via USB the list is pretty much endless. Use numerous USB devices including keyboards.
I use XBMP2.4 which works a treat for any divx/xvid files I have thrown at it. Have Mame with 300 odd roms, N64 with 100 odd roms, about 50 games on the HDD, lots of movies. All owned of course, just saves carrying all of the discs about when you transport it around.
Take a look at www.xbins.org for the latest releases ans www.xbox-scene.com for the latest news

Hello Si, Not managed to get any CD-R's working on mine yet. Like Hobo says I think its brand dependant. What brand/dye do you recommend ?
Edit: Just found this that lists some CD-R's that work
