IIRC there used to be a drag strip at High Weald, don't know if it is still operational though. I saw a jet-car run there once, although the strip looked a bit dodgy! Large concrete blocks laid down, with what appeared to be large 'steps' between the blocks, also not too much traction near the Christmas Tree.
