Can't understand why you won't find one with 100k miles on it; with the amount of time they are said to be in the garage they should come out new each and every week..............

I had a play with a silver 911 Carerra (W Reg) twin exhausts no whale tail a couple of weeks back. I'm not a Porsche expert so have no idea if it was turbo'd or what. He definetly went for it. We were on a straight about a mile long and I just slowly got past him, accelarating as hard as she would go.
We both came round a T junction in second, overtook a BMW 3 series, and then went for it through 3/4/5th gears, he backed off just after I sneaked past him.
I dont normally go for it, but there wasnt another car in sight, dead straight road, sunny weather.

I have an Sti7 with Custom Ecutek Remap, Freeflow Magnex Decat exhaust, Eibach Suspension etc. About 330ish BHP.

hmmm 100mph in 9.2 seconds for the porker
from the top of my head (ruff rembering, i have the proper figures in the car as part of the stuff i use to display the car at shows)
i managed about 96mph in about the same time @ croft race circuit, it was a 0-60mph challenge but they kept tracking your speed till you stopped,

a decent classic with a few choice mods could easy take the porker
id rather have the porker tho lol

I had a 106 gti last year and thought id have a play with an old 911 on the motorway.Like a ********,i pulled up to his bumper at about 70mph,his back end dropped and he was off like a rocket.I couldnt believe the power of the thing,i could even feel the power through the tarmac. It was fast!

If i had a choice between a TVR Cebera and a new 911 turbo,i think i would go for the TVR.The reason being, from watching a TVR Cebera, absolutely dick a Porche 911 turbo, and many other fast cars on a Jeremy Clarkson video from a few years ago.The 0-60 time of the Porche was under 4 secs, which is lightning fast.It was also put against the likes of the Vantage,Caterham, and a Viper. The Cerbera totally obliterated them all.Class!!

The Cerbera that Clarkson used was the less powerful 400bhp 4.2
The 4.5 is 420 bhp and special edition 'Red Rose' Cerbera is 440bhp!!
I came close to buying one (4.5), but the horror stories were just too many in number. I often try to justify a Cerbera to myself, but just can't seem to see it through.
They say that if you can find one that has done 20k and had no problems, you'll have yourself a trouble free Cerbera. That in itself would be a task!
See, there I go again, trying to talk myself into buying one.
Must go and put on my sensible trousers.

I have a scooby wagon and got totally blown away by a 911 RS a few weeks ago, all i can say is these things were built for the road and the scoobys were built for rallying, i have a lot of respect for them and would gladly part with the scooby to own such a piece of engineering, but then i guess you only get what you pay for!!

juan,i know i wont get anywhere a 911 turbo,gt2/gt3,but most of the others maybe, mines been timed to 60 in 4.1,and 100 in 10.9 so i think that carreras,c/s4,boxters,and targas yes and i didnt pay £50,000 for it if i had the money of course i would have one,who wouldnt got to be the best super cars.

Leviathan,

The top spec R34 (V Spec II Nur) is the same sort of money as a Porker! So you would not get much change. I've seen used ones with 1-3k on the clock go for as much as £62k!!!
Though you can get them for £35k.
It's on the short list of next car, in bayside blue. YUM!

I was taken out in 911 a few days ago, it was 3.6 non-turbo 320bhp ish I think he said and I really don't think my STi8 would be anywhere near it in a straight line IMHO!!

And that was a slow one

How to ruin a Porsche Turbo driver's day in a Scooby: (and still have it running at the end of the day so that you can do it again and again)....

Donor Scooby.... plus:
Engine rebuild £5000
Turbo £800
Intercooler £800
ECU £800
Suspension £1000
Brakes £1000
Gearbox £2500
Headers £400
Water injection £300
Exhaust £500
Induction/inlet £300
Fuel pump/reg £200
Injectors £250
Sport bonnet/despoiler/1.6GL badges

Oh **** you just spent £13850 modding a shed (on top of buying the said shed) and the Porsche driver will still laugh at you and your car will be worth nothing Why do I start to feel a little stupid? Has a certain appeal though.....

Yes I have seen off a 911 Turbo with similar power and a nice weight advantage And that was with bolt ons. I would still rather have the Porker

You will notice in the address bar at the top of your browser that you will have typed in www.scoobynet.co.uk to arrive at this forum and that the front page is entitled "the online Subaru community!!!
I have had the misfortune to read many Porsche based threads that you have contributed to and continually slated and slagged off the Subaru marque.
I find your comments tiresome and dull. The people who contribute to this BBS are lovers of Subaru cars in many guises and that I presume is why it is called the the online Subaru community!!!
Do you hate all Subarus or only the ones that are faster than your beloved porkers?
I would happily buy a porsche myself but until I can I would really like to share my enjoyment of my Subaru with likeminded people without reading comments on how crap they are from yourself

Thumbs up

He would kill you on the brakes as well. So you would need to spend even more.

You would be better off buying a 993 Turbo!

Thanks for pointing that out, however one does need a balance on these type of threads, and this one was staying fairly light hearted until you arrived.

Please point out where I have slated & slagged the Subaru off directly, rather than stating my own experiences.

I find your comments tiresome and dull
..oh well, although you did feel compelled to reply.

The people who contribute to this BBS are lovers of Subaru cars in many guises and that I presume is why it is called the the online Subaru community!!!
I think you will find the direction of this BBS is now more a general performance car forum - many members have upgraded from a Subaru but still enjoy the banter.

Do you hate all Subarus or only the ones that are faster than your beloved porkers?
I don't hate them at all, although there are really not that many that are "faster" than current Porsche 911 IMHO.

Mmmmmm, could you point me to a thread where I said they were "crap"?

Love my STI to bits, its just interesting to see that a car that costs a third of the price of many super cars can in some cases keep up if not beat them and if not,be not far behind,i think Mr litchfields spec c proves the point and that was up against some serious cars. Juan no worries...LOL

Although the name remains scoobynet not the general performance car forum. I think that that is called pistonheads

Yawn

My modified classic WRX - lightweight pannels etc. Was a quick scoob. (to give you a feel for the type of car I had).

My experiences were than I stayed with everything in a straight line. R34, Porkers etc. A few may have had a slight edge on me.
The only car that really left me twice were both Porkers and both on very fast sweeping motorway bends. I could feel the steering lighten up and they just kept on going into the distance.

On a B road a Cosworth Escort was the only thing to stay with me.
So yes respect to the 911.

Best wishes
Steve

guys guys...

I feel good that you even compare a porsche and a scoob, my scoob cost 13g's and happily beats most things i see day to day.

My friend pays 13k for a new Astra, and has already had more trouble with it than me.

Porsche are a poor mans lambourgini

You cant compare a 60k car against a 20k car, if you do which you have been then it shows how good a scoob is, i never see people comparing a porsche against a 20k Vectra etc blah blah

So im happy knowing i got a 13k motor which has 4wd is very comfy, people who sit in the passenger seat love it...i goto work every day in it and it has 4 doors and a boot big enuff to fit my snowboard gear in.

I thank you.
